Hi,
I currently focusing on mining and my second profesion is skinning.
But i don't make alot money with skinning so I want to learn an another profession.
Enchanting sounds fun but i really don't know anything about it.
So, is it profitable? And is it expensive to lvl?
And which other professions are profitable?
Thanks,

Enchanting is hella 'spensive to level right now. UInless you're rolling dungeons 24/7 and grabbing every spare piece of gear that drops, you'll lose a lot of money by just buying from the AH. The average leveling recipies are going for between 40s to 20g on a lot of servers, when the mats will net you upwards of 200g on the AH. You could potentially earn money from the high end recipies by using the maelstrom crystals, but those are going for upwrds of 5k gold apiece on my AH.
The only professions that are profitable right now are mining, skinning, and herbalism. An hour's worth of grinding on my gathering alt nets me upwards of 4k gold and feeds my 525 alchemist/engineer and 525 enchanter/scribe. The last two characters are money sinks, and I have yet to break even with the amount of gold I keep funneling their way to pay for mats that I can't gather myself. I hope that flask and enchant prices begin to climb again, but people are willing to accept such absurdly small prices for what they used to level that it's really just better to use what you need for raiding and leave the rest to the AH.
For fun and the benefit of your guild? Sure, enchanting can be worth it. Profitable, hell no, not unless you're bleeding edge and can make good use of the maelstrom crystals, which will start to fall soon now that 1) everyone can DE, and 2) more people are running raids.

Professions like JC or Enchanting got the highest gold/time played in the game.
I started Cataclysm late so I can't give actual numbers since my professions are not ready to generate profit yet. But after checking the patterns, I really don't see how I can't get my "industry" running again.
1.Buy ore ( saronite for Wotlk, Elementium for Cata ).
2. spam this macro
/cast Prospect
/use Elementium Ore
3. Cut blue gems
4. Make cheap amulet/rings with green gems.
5. DE everything.
6. AH gems and enchanting stuff or if you feel risk-taking, make some vellums.
There's no competition outside of AH, with simple math you can know when to not buy ore and when to stack and most of this process is done AFK or half-AFK. You start the machine every 2-3 days and rack gold.
Is it more profitable than farming ? Debatable for now ( Professional farmers aren't working properly at this moment so high prices on basic mats ) but this method certainly was during the last expansions.

you can MAKE gold with enchanting as you level. i use it whenever i start a toon on a new servers... once i've got 1g, i hit the AH and start doubling my money. eventually, the profit-per-click keeps me working only in the most profitable tiers of disenchanting and enchanting vellums for only the highest markup.
install auctioneer (which includes enchantrix - - that tells you what stuff DE's into). look at the cost of the mats you need. search AH for underpriced greens (compared to their DE'ed value). at every tier, i've found i can buy greens and DE them then sell the dust for a profit (skimming a little off for skill-ups as i go). if you find an especially profitable area, farm it for gold for a while. then you have the option to spend the extra gold powerleveling, if it is not going fast enough for your liking.

With Enchanting I've been buying any cheap greens or cheap essences and then using them as Enchant Weapon - Avalanche scrolls, I usually end up with 60% profit.

It will get better as the game progresses.
Also with the leveling you have better luck the more crafting profession toons you have. I have a few toons Jc,Lw,and Tailoring on them. So mats aren't that hard to comebye for me.

enchanting is a major money market as long as you know how to make it. There are several different items which you can sell from enchanting, your first is most likely large prismatic shards. the reagents for these might cost you fifty silver and they normally sell for 6g. that and disenchanting items and selling the reagents will be your first gold maker. Later you have stuff like abyssal shatter. if you can find the reagent low enough you can quadruple what you spend in profit.
