Secondly, a warlock at 80% health doesn't need healing, he is just using life tap cleverly. In general locks have a bunch of self healing going on and it's wasted if the lock is at full health. Basically a lock is most mana efficient at 80-90% health, no need to heal that. A lock with 90% health and 50% mana is a healthy lock.
This. It actually pisses me off when people heal me at 90% health, because I'm just going to Life Tap again shortly. My self healing is PLENTY to keep me topped off, you don't have to heal me to top me off.
If I hit 80% mana, I life tap if I have full health. If I ever have full health but not full mana, I life tap, so that I'm being mana efficient and when #$%^ hits the fan, I don't have to life tap at all and then healing isn't needed when it matters most.

The only beef I have with Life Tap is when people decide to do it during a damage intensive phase of a fight. It used to be just an annoyance, but now with the way healing has changed if you're tapping to 50% when there's 10k dps flying around the party / raid... it's gonna burn your healer out. But most locks that I run across are smart with it.
It's a class mechanic, and if you don't use it you're just silly. On my lock I usually keep my health and mana both around 75%. I never tap below that mark because usually I don't need more mana, and I'll just be healing myself back to full anyway. Gotta love Drain Life on Afflic locks. Especially while leveling (where the whole issue with people and Life Tap is at its worse).
Soul Harvest is freaking awesome I might say. Leveling my lock will never be the same.

Don't think so.
This is the times I wish we had role forums.
Then this could be copypastaed over to both boards so the players who need the info most can get it =P.

Well said..and as a player with a warlock main I would heartily agree.
If I'm at anything higher than 80% I don't need a heal. If I'm at 100% life and lower then 80% mana I'll be tapping...and don't heal me as I'm just fine.
And I love the soul harvest/life tap combo. Immediately after combat is done...life tap 2-3 times (if needed) and soul harvest. As its on a 30 second cooldown its something to use whenever needed.
Hell...I have found I don't even need food or water anymore. I carry 1 stack of each in case...but never found the need for it so far.

Nice guide.
On my warlock, I don't expect to be healed. Drain Life damages the target and replenishes my own HP, so I use that if I need to.
Healers can throw a HoT on to a warlock if they can afford to, but they shouldn't be demanded to heal a self-healing class.
