There are fights in raids where it is useful, but rarely its "required". For example on Chogal in last phase, where its basicaly dps race against aura damage, you want as much efficient hps as possible and thats where you use LoD. In 5man/BGs/arenas you can completely skip it, but IMO if you want to raid, you should keep it, as it is a useful tool and theres nothing you can take instead that would help you more (and also glyph it for even more healing).

TYVM for your opinion and Ill keep that in mind :D 104 views and not a singe comment from anyone until you.
There's been quite a few other threads talking about it since the nerf. :P
That said, it's all in the hands of the Paladin. Some guys can build a birdhouse with a hammer and nails. Some prefer screws and a power drill. If you can properly utilize Light of Dawn, /thumbsup. If not, there's plenty of other tools that can do the job if you do it right.

Shameless plug for 5 mans here. LoD really isn't that bad when you consider the following:
- A 3 HP Word of Glory would heal a target for ~6,000 health, before SP. LoD only needs to hit two people to get the same amount of healing per HP out of the spell.
- Although AoE isn't used in every single 5 man boss fight, it's definitely got a presence there. Examples include Corborus (lots of damage in general), the first boss in HoO, Siamat, Husam, and the Temple Keeper guy from the Lost City, and the armorer guy in BRC. Getting an instant AoE heal out on those fights can help out in keeping your party members' health stable, and prevent anyone from dropping too low where you need to Divine Light them back up and waste mana.
- It is extremely easy to line up given the fact that it has a 30 yard range. You can get behind one of your ranged, point it at your tank, and fire away to at a minimum heal yourself and the other two, and potentially a melee in the process.
All in all it's really not that bad. I've found that it has its spot right in-between Holy Radiance and Word of Glory, when I need a quick burst of healing across multiple party members, where none of them would be in a position of dying right after the heal.

In raids, Light of Dawn easily out performs 3HP Word of Glory. Of course the trick in 5 player dungeons is getting it into player's heads to stand near the Holy Paladin during AE attacks to maximize both Light of Dawn and Holy Radiance. I really like Light of Dawn where it ends up being very effective when things line up right including the bonus of that one doesn't need to retarget/click to activate it.

Is LoD useless? No. Is it often applicable?
Not really
.
The problem lies in the positioning requirement of the spell.
There are good times to use LoD
, such as stack phases like Feud or Green/Red phase, but the healing it does is relatively weak and not particularly worth glyphing unless you feel that your raid is lacking in AoE healing.
Many times WoG is a better spell to use because of the 30% chance you'll keep your Holy Power, lack of positioning issues, and the 60% increased crit chance if someone is below 35%. WoG simply has too many benefits that LoD does not. The old LoD was very very strong through the old ToR, but now that they're both nerfed severely, LoD has become less appealing.
WoG and LoD both have their uses, you just need to become comfortable with knowing when to use them. Generally WoG will be used more than LoD by most Paladins, but it's ultimately your preference as to which you feel is more beneficial.

I personally don't talent for it. At all. In PvP or PvE, baring in mind I haven't set foot in a raid yet.

also - isn't Tower of Radiance useless now? shouldn't we get a new talent to replace it?
Only if your tank doesn't take enough damage to warrant use of Divine Light. Which is pretty unlikely.
