I used to consider Glyph of Stoneclaw Totem more of a PvP thing, but I've been able to make very frequent use of its damage absorb (around 17k isn't too shabby) to reduce my incoming damage, as long as I have some idea it's coming. The lack of alternatives which are clearly far, far better has also made it more attractive.
You only have to drop Stoneclaw for an instant, and then you can switch right back to Strength of Earth, Stoneskin or even Tremor Totem. (Depending upon the buffs that the rest of your group provides) The absorb stays on you, after you switch out of Stoneclaw, so any DPS loss is relatively negligible. It has enabled me to stay there, beating on some bosses, while other melee are running out. Or, to survive while others are dying. I've tanked bosses in some dungeons when the Tank has gone down. (We had a very crappy tank and a very good healer, though)
That, paired with Shamanistic Rage and Feral Spirits (as Soccer points out), with my own bit of healing thrown in when necessary (on -or- off Maelstrom procs) has made quite the difference. I've even popped Spiritwalker's Grace to toss some heals on myself while I'm running, a few times. Or, dropped Healing Rain (in Enhance) to help my team get just a bit more healing, in some situations. I make up the mana very quickly once I resume beating on things.
Overall, I'd rather put my talent points into maxing my DPS, and making the fight as short as possible. Well, that and CC, to manage the fight. I'm actually considering placing a couple of points into Frozen Power (for my Enhance spec) to provide my team with up to three different CCs that can be used simultaneously. (Elemental, Humanoid, and Frozen Power's root-effect) And, considering de-emphasizing Magma Totem and Fire Nova to free up points. I seem to do better at single-target DPS anyway, and removing an enemy caster from the fight, faster, while constantly interrupting his spells, has been useful to my group.
One other thing that might help your team is to consider which water totem to drop. You can provide Fire, Frost and Nature resistance, all at once.
