***Remember if you have a DX11 Card add the "SET gxapi d3d11" line to your config file in your WTF folder, it really works***
I am thinking of upgrading my computer setup.
Wasn't sure what forum to put this in but here goes.
Which cards perform better with WoW? Nvidia or ATI?
What's your FPS in crowded areas on ultra settings at 1920x1080?
I get 15-25 FPS in orgrimmar at 1920x1080 resolution.
My setup
Q6600 3.6ghz
1100MHz 4GB crucial ballistix RAM
HIS HD ATi Radeon 5770
Upgrading cuz I am giving this computer to my brother.
What's your setup and FPS? Need a good sample size of responses so I can make a good choice.

Specs:
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz (E8400 model)
GPU - Geforce 9800 GT 512MB VRAM
RAM - 4GB DDR2 RAM (I think it's 800Mhz, but not sure)
FPS: 1680x1050, Everything Ultra except Shadows (off) and View Distance (medium), Vsync on
Orgrimmar - 40 fps main area during peak, 60 fps in the other parts
Tol Barad - solid 30 fps if everyone is in one area otherwise 60 fps
Everywhere else - solid 60 fps
This is a 2.5 year old computer now. It doesn't take much to have pretty good graphics in WoW. I found that Shadows and View Distance are the biggest hit, so I just turn them down. I would suggest for you to just turn off Shadows or lower them a bit. They don't give an advantage or anything.

Processor:AMD Athlon(tm) Processsor LE-1660
Display adapter:ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series
Ram:4 GB, no idea the Mhz.
Resolution 1024x768 everything on good, I get around 15 FPS in pvp, and about 7 in org when it's crowded :/
I'm gonna try turning shadows off completely, turning sunshafts off, and lowering view distacne a bit, I may update if I remember, which I should considering I'm also asking a question, and if I feel like it :P
Anyone know what I should buy to improve my "gaming experience"? I mean, like what would give me the biggest improvement by upgrading.

AMD Athlon Phentom II X6 1055T
Asus M4A89GTD-Pro Motherboard
8GB DDR3 Kingston Memory
Asus Radeon HD 5830
Asus 27" LCD
Seagate 1.5 TB 7200RPM HD
I set everything on WOW on max settings and get smooth FPS just about everywhere but crowded cities even then I pull 20-30FPS.

CPU - Intel i5-Quad (2.8Ghz)
GPU - Geforce 570 GTX
RAM - 6GB stock speed (1333Mhz)
FPS: 1680x1050 (dx11 enabled tho it makes no noticable diffrence for me on/off)
Also Fullscreen vs Windowed makes around 5-10 FPS in diffrence.
Orgrimmar - 40+ in front of AH with slowdowns to 25 minimum when loading etc. / 65+ Fps everywhere else
Tol Barad - Not been there
Everywhere else - 80+Fps
All settings to Ultra except shadows who are set to good.
This is all with a moderate set of addons.

so what does dx11 do i turned it on awhile ago and nothing was different so i turned it offIt can do different things. One thing that springs to mind is. In STALKER Call of Pripyat, If your in DX10, then when it rains everything gets a shiny, wet look to it. Grass and mud looks slippy, your hands look dripping wet, your gun almost looks like its going to rust! Its really realistic and awesome.
If you play in DX9, its all very nice and looks kinda the same, but you dont get that shiny, wet shader at all. Everything looks dry even though its raining. The rain is the same quality as in DX10, but that shader that adds the wet shine is gone.
i know it does other things in other games but im talking about wow
