In Northrend, enjoying his retirement.
Wasn't that just a fan theory or was it confirmed via blue post? I vaguely remember the second, but I want to make sure.
It's in the Shattering.

In Northrend, enjoying his retirement. Not retirement, per se. If the Horde needed Saurfang in particular, he'd get up and handle it, just because orcs don't ever stop serving the Horde as long as they're capable (just look at Drek'thar). However, he is for all practical purposes retired, since he's handling the Horde's matters in Northrend, which is practically harmless now (besides the Vrykul and Magnataur).

I'd like to see him return, slap Hecksqueak across the face, snatch Gorehowl from his hands then toss him over his lap and spank him with the flat of the axehead like the ill-mannered brat he is. Then hand it back, say something terse and rebuking 'Grow up' or something similar, then walk off without another word. ;DI would literally give everything that I own to make this canon.

This. I think I even saw somewhere that Saurfang "got sick of Garrosh", hence why he chose to stay up there.
