Just got my engineering maxed last night. The helmet you can make is the definately a huge perk until raiding and is better then most riad stuff you can get for a long time. Once i replace this helmet ill probably drop engineering, they took all the cool perks out.. no good enchants for gloves boots or cloak. the cogwheel gems are decent, but again once you replace the helmet -- poof! > useless.

Leatherworking is currently top of the pile because of the bracer enchant.
The others don't matter so much, they all give 80 agility bonus.

I've been thinking the same myself to be honest.
I powerlevelled Engi late into Wrath because the utility and variety of the tinkers made it more fun. Plus, when I got a good few 277s I moved away from ArPen whoring so the synergy of Blacksmithing was no longer all that useful.
Now with the overwhelming value of Agi, the wrist enchant is miles ahead, especially when you consider the increased risk of using the Nitro Boosts etc. The only thing making me hesitate is the absolute pain in the arse which is levelling Leatherworking... consistently my least favorite profession.
I think what I may do now is stick with Engi until I get a 359 hat to replace the Agile Optics. That'll give me a bit of time to buy/farm some levelling mats for LW on my alt.

I would stick with it. Engeneering has allways been lacking at the begining of an expansion. As time goes on Blizz will add more things to it as time goes on and make it good once again and you will be wishing you didnt drop it(at least I hope).

The helm is absolutely win ( and epic on a worgan ), the ability to bring a mailbox and Jeeves along, and misc amusing tinkers that can be highly convenient at times...
Keep a hold of it and I'm sure Blizz will introduce more viable stuff for engineering.
