Hello!
I am a recently dinged pally tank and I am starting to run heroics atm. I am really enjoying it and I love the selfhealing pallys can do due to WoG. I use WoG at 3 HP for 90% of the time to help the healer (due to me beeing bad geared).
My question is, can a pally use WoG alot in raids to help healers conserv mana or will it hurt threat to much by not using SotR?

I usually spend most of my time spamming WoG on myself or others while main tanking. I've never ever had to worry about my threat on any of the raid bosses I've encountered so far. In fact, paladin threat is so op right now, I've been able to switch to Seal of Insight and use all my holy power towards WoG without any issues at all.

I think the question is one of "can" against "should" or even to ask for situations.
While it was intensely overpowered at 80 on release, up here at 85 once you gear up, WoG heals become only a nice little relief in a heroic, a moment of zen (and only a moment) for your healer, and ready often enough that I let my healer him/herself decide. The more my green bar ping-pongs, the more I use it and forsake the extra threat.
In a raid, with multiple healers, it becomes less of a boon. A convenient nice-to-have during a known spike. It will not get you through something dramatic, but coupled with a cooldown, you can survive a reposition or another scerw-up, at least for a few seconds. Where it really shines for me are during transitions, which require good awareness.
Popping it for instance when you are positioning up on the Conclave fight, after having leapt over to the boss you are swapping to, healer in tow. Gives him/her a 20k breather to get him/herself positioned for an additional second or two.
Very niche use, but a nice thing to have in the arsenal

Keep omen open and look at A) your total threat versus the closest DPS's total threat, and B) your TPS versus any DPS's TPS. As long as your number is the higher one in both A) and B), there's no reason
not
to use WoG instead of anything else.

If you have;
Bad DPS
Bad Heals
Then yes, WoG. Else you will need to tell your DPS to use their aggro reduction abilities or die. Just dont do it with Seal of Insight or DPS will be capped so much that the encounter will take too long and teh heals will go OOM.
As pezz said, if youre not capping the DPS
and
you're not dieing, do whatever you want.
