So, was frost doing more dps then it was meant to?
I knew howling blast hit fairly hard but i didn't think it was Op. Then again i rarely dps.

Yes their argument is that fights with a lot of AoE damage were being dominated by frost DK's.

They said the same thing about demo warlocks, so Frost aren't the only ones getting an AoE nerf.

This is the same nerf that paladins (divine storm, seal of command) and warriors (cleave and whirlwind) got in 4.0. They don't want an add or two to give you a huge DPS increase with your single-target rotation.

It's also the fact that it's burst. Unholy also has some great AOE DPS, but it requires a long buildup. For example, on Magmaw, while I would drop DnD on the spawning worms I wouldn't be able to maneuver in and get diseases or my ghoul on them, while we had two Frost DK's just stacking Death Runes so that they could HB the living crap out the worms when they spawned. I could only do anything significant if the worms stayed in place for about a minute.

Then again, I think Blizzard could let Frost DKs and some other classes shine on some fights, no? Yeah the DPS is a tad high, but only for a couple of these AoE fight? They could leave it, only because it is very specific, they don't have to make everything dead even..... christ.

It's kinda sad, but it only bothers me because it slows down rep-running old instances and raids.
Though it seems counter-productive, since they have been giving classes abilties previously restricted to a single class. As an example, mages with the time warp spell - which is basically the same as heroism/bloodlust, formerly a shaman only ability.
However the true problem lies in the fact that there are too many DPS. If a mage is going to be doing superior damage, and have a CC, why take a Frost DK or Arms/Fury warrior, when you can basically pick and choose your dps classes?

You have obviously never seen just how easy Howling Blast makes some raid fights then. On Magmaw, our Frost DK literally trivialized the adds; after my trap went down he could Howling Blast a few times and deal more damage to them than the other 5 DPS'ers combined. It deals way too much damage and isn't currently affected by the AoE cap that all other AoE abilities are. Hence, for Blizzard's purposes of balancing, it's far too powerful.

Second, the increased spell hit that Virulence gave in the unholy tree is being given to all dk's through runic focus (or whatever) as a passive ability.
Was about to ask it, but you answered before hand.
Thanks.
