I'm putting together a birthday wish list and I'd like to include a gamepad. Not sure which one's would be best given my parameters. I'd be using it for games such as M:UA and the LEGO games so far. I'd like it have enough buttons or at least button combos (triggers act as alt and ctrl or something like that) so that I can have up to 12 usable buttons just like a standard hotkey bar. Since I don't use a gamepad for FPS titles I guess it wouldn't have to have a second joystick, but I assume it can't hurt as long as there's enough buttons.
It seems to me like I don't quite know as much what I want as I thought I did, so maybe some examples from you guys would help. Also, feel free to let me know and brands or models that you suggest steering clear. Thanks all!

If you have button-mapping software already, get a wired XBOX360 Controller. Just download the drivers and you'll be ready to go.
If you want an included mapping software with the gamepad, I'd recommend referencing
this list
to find a product that you think fits.
