Well, pet buffs are going to be useful as long as your pet can stay in range. What I find works is keeping the interrupt off autocast (duh) and then putting it on autocast when an interrupt is needed. Once it's on autocast, your pet will use it the very next GCD, rather than you trying to make your pet use it by spamming the button until it finally goes through when the pet has a GCD available. You then simply take the interrupt back off autocast once it's been cast.
If your BM then your gonna want things like Corehounds, Spirit BEasts and the like. Having a Pet soley for its interrupt isnt a good idea.
The benefit of beast masters is that their pets have shorter CDs on their special abilities. Thus, something useful to the raid like an interrupt will be available more often.
Besides, no pet provides anything to a raid that another class can't provide except the channeled AoEs (not useful for boss fights anyways) and spirit beast heal (again, not a very compelling reason to use a spirit beast instead of a nether ray or moth). So, if
these buffs & debuffs are covered by the other members of your raid (including other hunters!), then bringing a nether ray or moth is not only perfectly fine, but beneficial to your raid!
Although, I would very much like to see an exotic cunning pet that can interrupt and provide a passive raid buff (I say cunning since ther eare only two exotic cunning pet families)
That you for the tip. Obviously the pet would be situational at times I think even dropping a raid buff would make it worthwhile if I knew I could interrupt rather than relying on someone else. I was just unaware how difficult getting my pet to do the interrupt when i needed it would be.
