Hi guys,
Levelling my rogue and about to hit Outland. Was running with a Mut spec for quite some time but lately changed over to give subt a go and am enjoying it enough that I'll be sticking with it for a while.
My quick question is about weapon set ups. With Mut I know dagger/dagger was the way to roll, and combat seems to be a case of whataver 2 weapons have the highest damage but I'm unclear as to what the best set up is for subt.
When I switched specs over I just carried on with the dagger/dagger I was using with Mut but is this still the way to go or am I a little more flexible now when choosing what to equip in each spot?

Is backstab necessary though? I find that more often than not after I was premeditation and pop up behind something/someone with an ambush that I have full combo points to use however I choose.
The only time I found myself using backstab before was in dungeons as Mut as it hit much harder than sinister strike.
If I get bigger ambush hits with a slow main-hand, with higher damage than a dagger, is that perhaps what I should just stick to in order to get an enemies health down as much as possible after my opener..?
thanks for the imput so far

Hemo and ambush scale better with daggers, so just get that slow mh dagger.

Actually, Slow/Fast
When I switched specs over I just carried on with the dagger/dagger
Best set-up will be that, for reasons Caperon states above.

2 enviroments:
- while leveling, you won't have a use for backstab since mobs will be facing you all the time. so spam hemo, and mh type doesn't count, just be it a slow one. anyway seems that daggers permorms a little better.
- if you have the insane idea for which you should brainwashed of raiding as sub, go for daggers and forget hemo completely, since backstab will be you combo builder.

Mh needs to be dagger for sub, for backstab, and extra damage from other abilities in sub, offhand needs to be fast, and all fast things are daggers.
So mut is slow mh, fast offhand.
Combat is the same.
Sub is the same.
The difference is, mut and sub are slow daggers in mh, while combat is a slow anything.
Generally for mut and sub you got mh 1.80 dagger, oh 1.40 dagger.
Combat is 2.60, 1.40 for oh, which is gonna be a dagger, mh whatever, oh dagger since they removed weapon specilization talents.

Unless your the bleed b
it
ch, where you would need to throw a hemo in every minute.
While lvling solo you wont use backstab much, in groups you will if your using sub. Keep that in mind.

Combat is slow anything, except for a dagger.

Techniclly, you don't need a dagger for the off hand for Subtley. But as stated before, with Cata the only real fast off hand weapons are daggers. Anything that is about 1.5-1.4 is a good though. And if your still leveling, this can include anything that can be weilded by Rogues, like Fist weapons or Axes. Just make sure you have a slow dagger for your main hand for the above stated reasons

l2read. while leveling you can spam sinister strikes and spec 0/0/0 and level up just fine, only slower.
also, in a proper raiding enviroment, the use of hemo has been proved as a loss of dps overall (apart from you being the manglebot)

Does that mean glyphing for the extra dot done by hemo and hence using it every 20 sec is useless? Granted in most pve environment the only time i ever use hemo is to get a quicker cp to ensure the refresh of rupture. I just thought the increase to said rupture + the extra damage was usefull.

as said before, if you are the manglebot you'll need to put up that hemo every minute. the dot glyph doesn't do enough damage to make it useful to use it every 30 secs. if the bleed bonus is already provided (some noob tests on dummies with a feral drood friend) hemo can be dropped compeltely from the rotation as for now.
dunno for the next patch, with the aggression buff, but since is increases both hemo and bs damage, i think it will stay like this.
