Me? We have around 250 characters on the roster. Somewhat large. Almost non-existant membership turnover. Almost the exact same team this guild has been using since back into BC and Vanilla. Its hard to measure success with anything other than progress and rankings. Its not worth measuring the qualitative standing of the guild. That would be like having some Fun-O-Meter for measuring success. Only the quantitative data proves worthwhile.
It's not hard to measure success with overall contentment at all. In fact, if the purpose of the guild is to create a happy and helpful environment, then that's the only way you can measure that guild's success. In that case, quantitative data is meaningless.

I would say the best way to measure guild success would be longevity x member retainment.
If your guild has a stable core membership and people quitting the guild is a rare occurance, then you're doing something right. It doesn't matter if you're raiding/pvping hardcore, or your just a social casual guild that enjoys the game together. Success is your membership happiness.

Nothing says fail more than a guild floundering then disbanding.
IMO, success = longevity. The guild I am in has been around since about a week after Vanilla launch. Just a shade over 600 members. I think we are the second oldest guild on our server.

Type in /ginfo and give me an exact date please.
Ok, my bad. I'm out by a year.
But 2005 is still impressive for a troll-only guild
. And the accounts is very wrong.

Wow, seriously? Dude is selling his Truegold transmute for only 100g? I like your server's economy. :D
