Help getting behind things as a cat

Anyone know of an addon that can assist me in leading me to the direct portion of the hit box that can be effected by shred.
I tend to take a while to get behind certain things that have weird shapes unless I can clearly see the tank. I also tend to not know when I fall too far ahead the back when I'm avoiding a tail or a pool of lava that close to the mob's/boss's back.
I'm fairly new at cat dps so idk if it's just a learning thing and other cats just instinctively always know where the back of orb-like jello thing is, but an addon to help me find the sweet spots for shred would help.
Also, is Drood Focus a crutch for cat dps that can hinder my ability to play the class to it's full potential, or is it a viable way to improves one's ability to be a good cat? Or is it one of those things that's only good int he beginning than should be removed?

Add-ons can't detect this kind of information/project anything onto the game world (AVR used to do this, and then Blizzard deliberately broke it because it trivialized the game). The closest thing would be to get Bartender/Dominos, set up a single bar with Shred on it, set the scale to like 200%, and stick it in the middle of the screen. When it lights up, go to town.
Can I do something like that with power auras?
I'm thinking of putting a giant sad face on my screen when I can't shred my hostile target. Though that might get annoying.

What addons CAN do (which is what FeralByNight used to do) is indicate to you that a Shred has FAILED due to positional requirements. It can tell you that the last one you tried to cast didn't work because you weren't behind. It's not possible to proactively find it out, though.

the drood focus addon tends to show a circling pair of arrows which seems to appear when my shred fails, so I guess that can work for me since the addon can show my priority list as well.
Any word on whether or not Drood Focus is something I should ween off of if I'm new to cat or if it's ok to stick with it.
