It is also essential to learn how different aoe healing (and dk ... circle of slow) look like. For example, if a shaman dropped his healing rain, you want to stand in it. However if it is some other green-goo on the floor, than get out.
And learning what aoe damage of each class looks like, is very important. If a mage is using their blizzard aoe, than it's ok to stand in it, and if you're tank, than don't kite mobs out of it. However if it's some aoe that mobs are doing, than get out.

Nice guide, but I do somewhat disagree with you supporting FotM talent specs. It may have been better to encourage a revision of the players spec so they can see more potential performance from their class role. PuG raiding is more forgiving, but by all means serious raiders DO need to spec the highest performing specs really.

This section seems to be missing: 10 moronic things you must not do
It's mentioned in the table of contents, but I don't see it.
Some of the points in that section maybe: don't stand in front of the boss,
don't stand behind the boss if there is a tail (stand on the side)

Thank you for the enlightening post.
However, I must confess that the "Specialization" section makes a depressing read. I
like
being a Hunter, and I
like
MM. Sacrificing individuality for the sake of squeezing every last bit of DPS seems like a sacrilege to me.
(yes yes, I know, "QQ moar" or "do it or don't go raiding"; this is merely my
personal
opinion)
May I suggest sections on how to actually get on raids (guilds / LFGs), and also class/specialization-specific general tactics?
Also, for the "Add-Ons" section, I'd like to say that if you're a Fire Mage, get the CombustionHelper. Helps deciding when to use
Combustion
for optimal DPS goodness.

Can you talk about how to find a raid or group?
