Masochism an effective crutch?

I've taken an old Shadow Priest out of retirement since Cataclysm changes, and was curious: Is Masochism an effective crutch for handling the group quests in Cataclysm zones? (on the off-chance I can't find a group that is...) At 80 and 81 it has handled the group Icecrown quests pretty nicely so far, like Second Chances and The Admiral Revealed.
Since I can't armory from work, what I can remember is:
HP and MP are at approximately 20k each, within a 1k range.
Currently I Flash Heal for ~7400 on average, ignoring crits, so as long as I take between 2.1k to 3k a hit on average for a regular attack, I win and it's just a matter of when.
My concern is if the drastic gear differences available from leveling up more will cause HP to scale too low or too high in comparison with how hard they are hitting. I haven't touched the Cataclysm zones yet because of tradeskills -- I want to get at least Tailoring up high enough to handle Embersilk so I'm not just watching it build up, and it's not quite there yet. >_>

Well, hate to break it to you, but group quests don't really exist in the 80-85 zones. A really strange move on Blizz's part imho, but it does simplify things a bit. As for Masocism, you will definitely be getting clocked for 10% health while leveling, making it a useful investment for a decent level of mana return. Base mana scaling however, will make you need to fiend and disperse to maintain high mana while leveling. Also, SW:D's damage above the execute range is so laughably low, that you can effectively consider it a 'life tap' effect, feel free to jam it often while leveling.
I would also recommend taking glyph of spirit tap if you are not already.
