What would you consider a gaming notebook? I am planning on getting a laptop and playing wow while having stuff open and not lagging like crazy would be good.

I recently bought an Asus Aspire 7552G-6061, which has very similar specs to the 7540G:
AMD Phenom II X4 (2.1GHz)
ATI HD5650
17.3" HD+ LED LCD
4 GB DDR3
500 GB HD
It plays WoW great on medium settings at 1600 x 900. I haven't played it long enough to see if it gets hot, but I have it on a laptop cool pad, which has a couple of fans running continuously, helping to circulate air around and through the laptop.
Cool pads are cheap, and should help your laptop last longer, especially if you are pushing it by gaming. You could get two cool pads and keep one at each parents' so you don't have to keep packing them up. When you arrive, just whip out your laptop and plop it on top of the cool pad, fire it up and start playing. :)
BTW, I paid $699 for my 7552G, on sale just after Christmas. It's an amazing computer for the money. They may be gone now but there is a similarly priced model with a GeForce GT 420M.
