Hiya,
I'm not here to argue/flame/mong on like a ten year old with no self-awareness, I've just got a question.
I'm aware this has been mentioned before, but going off
this
thread, and TheOnyx's response;
However, it's a quick fix and in the end it does protect the site in case a meteor shower takes out Google but somehow misses Wowhead, so I'll add it to our docket. The fact that it will also fix the site for people using a 3rd-party add-on to modify the way we want our site to render... well... I'll begrudgingly accept that in this case. In general, I'm personally not a fan of people using 3rd-party add-ons to affect what our site displays, especially when they blame the resulting issues on us. :P
I was under the impression that you'll be running a script directly off Wowhead so that I could sit in my ivory tower and happily use Wowhead without letting NoScript give googleapis JS access. Has this changed, as I'm currently having to allow googleapis currently to access the site correctly? Already tried a hard refresh, to no avail.
Halp, please :)

Eh, read the rest of his post. Namely:
If you're blocking the domain, it's your problem. If Google crashes, it's our problem. Our point is that our problem is not one we're worried about. It's not a question of stubbornness or missing the point, as you seem to think.
It seems to me he's arguing a temporary fix for those who for whatever reason don't want to allow Google. As a user of Gmail, Google Docs, Picasa, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Translate, Android OS, and of course Google Search, I don't really understand the point of disallowing any Google domain.

If you have a gmail account that's anything more than a trash bin, googleapis is the least of your worries
:)

I did. The bit I posted was directly
after
it. He said he was going to do a fix, so the above doesn't really come into it. He was making a point, which is fair in the context of that thread.
And furthermore, without being rude, can I suggest you read ALL of mine? I was asking a question, the question being "Has this changed?" I made it clear in the first line I've no interest in arguing about who's got the most righteous method toward internet use, so;

is neither necessary, relevant, nor particularly helpful. Those arguments have been done elsewhere on this forum.
And yes, I'm aware this is my first post in these forums, so I'd like it to be as simple as possible, without the "look at me" apps waving. I don't think I'm asking for the world.

We have plans to implement this improvement but it's extremely low priority, so I don't know when we will find time to do it - if ever.

Okay, I'll give the blunt side of my argument. What's the rationale behind blocking googleapis?

Ah, I see. Thank you for responding.

Interesting point about block vs. untrusted. I'll check into that next time I use NoScript. Thanks
:)

Side note: I personally will never understand why an http client is forced to load stuff from other web sites than the one that was entered into the navigation bar. I know that wowhead needs the money from ads and I personally have no problem with seeing ads on a web site which provides valuable information and is free to use.
But from a more technical / security perspective I wish that all content (including ads) would be directly delivered by wowhead, i. e. 3rd party content is included on the server and not on the client.
It's realy quite simple: if ads was to be loaded from directly from wowhead, instead of the ad provider, the ad provider would have to trust wowhead staff to correctly report how many people had visited the site, so that they could pay out the correct amount (this is ofcourse for the pay-per-view ads.)
now that the ad is loaded from the ad provider however, they just have to check their own logs to see where an ad has been loaded from, and how many times.
