Take a look at the
Protection Paladin guide here
or in my sig. Should help get you going.

You get your core skills as talent specialization (AS) and at level 29 from talents again (HotR), and at level 39 yet again from talents (ShoR).
Just looking at their descrioption should give you all the information you want. If not - any, literally, guide would explain it in clear.
No excuse possible.

must say one thing in this guide is intresting:
THE STATS
We gain stats through leveling and through our gear. These are the important stats for a Protection Paladin.
* Stamina - Your primary stat which increases you health and therefore your survivability.
* Strength - Secondary only to Stamina while leveling. Adds to our threat generation.
* Dodge, Parry, Hit, Expertise - You won't start running into these until higher levels. All good additions to gear that already has the first two stats.
I dont agrie that stamina is your primary stat even before 80 and mastery.
i am more for STRG as primary att , and rest to be as much as you able to find Mitigation and avoidiance stats on you. Think that

can be also very very good guide, at least to know in withc direction to go with your paladin.
If you can't take at hit then you die. Who cares if you do the extra 500 dps.

Unless you foolishly gear with Agility, you will have sufficient Strength, no matter which gear you wear, as long as RF is up.
Pre-80, Stamina and raw Armor is your mitigation stats.
