i read a lot of posts on how good is combat for leveling and i'd like to post my
personal opinion
i specced combat at lvl 10 mainly due to having 2 heirloom swords i used for my warrior (
Venerable Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge and
Battleworn Thrash Blade), after just a couple of levels i found it getting boring and tryed respeccing subtlety using a dagger whenever i had a blue one of similar dps and going back to dual sword otherwise and i found it to be not only much funnier but also much faster. Mobs die in seconds and you have 2 great movement tools in
Shadowstep and
Nightstalker.
After level 39 you get
Premeditation allowing you to 2shot every mob (i usually alternate shadowstep/ambush + 1or2 hemorrage and premeditation/ambush+eviscerate) every 20seconds.
From here on i bought an heirloom dagger (
Balanced Heartseeker) so if u dont have it maybe things change a bit (aka not being able to kill a mob with ambush+eviscerate)
After level 69 you get
Shadow Dance giving you another short cooldown to alternate with ShS and Premed allowing cycles of 2shots even on wotlk mobs (here i usually use ShS/Prem/Ambush+eviscerate >> Shadow Dance 2xAmbush >> first one again >> a slower kill with no CDs then repeat)
about combat i bought the dual spec at lvl 30 and i specced for it switching to combat every few levels to see if it was better the sub for questing and those are my results
The main point is combat being able to take more mobs at once with
Blade Flurry, the real problem i found is that no doubt you kill 2 mobs at once (or even 3/4 with
Adrenaline Rush and
Killing Spree) but, even with the
Reinforced Leather talent, i had to bandage/eat after those multimob pulls while with subtlety i was always topped off just by the
Recuperate u can use with Combo points remaining on dead mobs
my rogue is 75 currently and i dont know if for leveling 80-85 sub is going to be viable due to the higher and higher mobs healthpools but till there it surely deserves a try
just my 2 cents since every other leveling thread here seems to point toward combat for leveling :)
ps: sorry if my english is not perfect, i'm italian :)
