So, I've posted here twice looking for help with my dps. It helped, to a degree. I'm now wondering if I should give up on my rogue, because no matter how hard I try getting past 5.5k in a heroic is now nearly impossible. People tell me I should be doing upwords of 8k with my gear. I've read the stickys, the guides, and have had my spec and rotation checked by other rogues. My only issue with my gear is my boots and a trinket, but that shouldn't be killing my dps.
My rotation for trash is stealth-garrote-SnD-Mutx2-rupture-mutx2-envenom repeat.
My boss rot is about the same but with vendetta and cold blood thrown in when needed. Instant poison on mainhand, deadly on offhand. I am hitcapped.
Should I give up on my rogue? or just give up doing heroics/raids?

Still looking into getting enchants, but again, people say it should not be affecting my DPS this greatly

1. No enchants.
2. Random gemming.

The proper rotation was never a fixed one. It depends on ruthlessness procs. Nowadays it's generally just keep rupture up regardless of how many combo points you spend on it and envenom at 4+ combo points in your mutilate phase and at 5 combo points in the backstab phase.
While you're at it, get some useful major glyphs too. Crippling poison and evasion. Really?

I'm going to switch the glyphs now. Any advice on the gemming and enchants?
Also, I knwo about the trinkets. Just haven't found replacements for them.

I switched my rot around a little to incorperate the envenom refreshing SnD, and it did help a little. Thanks

Rupture is always good to use as assassination due to venomous wounds. A 1 or 2 point rupture on a low-hp mob will replenish most of your energy bar, which allows you to burst down the next mob. This comes handy in all trash situations, but also on some bossfights that require adds be taken down quickly and efficiently (namely the nature construct in HoO and Ripsnarl in Deadmines).
You never need to use many combo points on SnD or rupture. One or two points will do. Slice is refreshed by envenom and rupture's damage is largely irrelevant; it's the venomous wounds procs that matter, so you need only pay attention to keep it up, regardless of combo points spent.
...although when I have to run around during Felstorm my rupture and deadly poison reduce my DPS..
First of all, you needn't run around like a lunatic during felstorm. I've seen many dps do that, and it's frankly stupid. The fire doesn't hurt that bad, and it randomly spawns under people's feet, so you can just wait for it to spawn under you and move 5 feet to the side, constantly dpsing and moving when needed. Argaloth is one of the rare bosses in this expansion you should have near to 100% uptime on.
Secondly, how do rupture and garrote reduce your damage when you're out of melee range? I really don't understand what kind of logic would lead to that conclusion. If anything, they'd increase it since they are your only source of damage when you need to move out of melee range.
