atm im using
Symbiotic Worm
+
Porcelain Crab
and its about time for me to buy another peice of VP gear, and im just wondering if its worth replaceing the crab with
Bedrock Talisman
it seems like it would go well with the worm since they would proc at the same time, when i need them, as aposed to the crab witch procs off my melee swings when i might not even be the tank with agro. although the passive armor dosnt seem like that much
im a pally btw, ty in advance

Keep the crab. That trinket has less armor then ICC trinkets, and it's proc is crap. The crab however, has a proc I could only describe as GOLDEN. (At least for a DK), It makes you go from shaving damage off hits to absorbing a hit or even sometimes to completely. I can only assume the same with Paladin mastery.

pally mastery is increased block, and its good, i just wish it procced when the boss hit me as aposed to when i hit them >.<
but wth, small complaints are small right?

Ditch the stamina trinket and get the BH trinket with Mastery and Use: Resistance. And consider getting the heroic Tia's Grace trinket from last boss in Lost City.
Don't get the VP armor trinket.

13.30% dodge with a full stack of the buff, 12.68% without the agility.

the BH trinket is best used in fights with a lot of magic damage, if i got that (witch i am) then it would be more productive to use it WITH the stamina trinket, and use my avoidance trinkets for heavy melee fights

Tia's Grace has 285 mastery and 340 agi with max stacks. Where did you get the 13% dodge from?
I have 13.30% dodge with a full stack of the Grace buff, and 12.68% dodge without the Grace buff. Therefore the 340 Agility from Tia's Grace is giving me 0.62% Dodge.

The only time I've found a use for my stamina trinkets so far is when tanking the last phase of 25m Halfus Hardmode when I am holding the two drakes during furious roars. I would also use Stamina trinkets if I were the offtank eating the double strike on Chimaeron.
Fights with a lot of magic damage still have a lot of physical damage as well. And the magic damage can some at particular times so you can use the CD. For example, on Captian Planet, right after the fire shield the fire boss will do his cone fire attack which will be buffed from the shield. The shield happens ever 60 seconds, so you can use the trinket to CD every one of those breaths. You can CD some of the barrages during second phase of Halfus during the roar.

well it really depends on the fight tbh, stam/magic resist trinkets seem to be handy during omnitron, since the physical dmg there is rly ntohing to worry about, when nefarion crackles, *!@# like that

I still maintain that Stamina trinkets are bad except for very very limited situations, namely the two I stated (OT on Chim, tanking and holding multiple drakes in second phase of Halfus).
Omnitron from last night, 77% of the damage I took during that fight was Physical and Blockable, thus avoidance and mastery is superior. In addition, the second most damage I took was from the AoE fire attack, which is on the timer and would be good use of the Mastery/Magic Resist trinket.
The fact is that Stamina just doesn't DO anything for you. It is ONLY useful when you are taking a large number of consecutive hits with little or no healing. Ask yourself how many times you are at full health (rare in and of itself) and how many times you are full health and go Whack Whack Whack dead.
Armor is still useful because it actually does something; Prevent damage. However the item budget of armor in Cata is much less than it was in WotLK and avoidance is generally considered to be superior. Once (if) we get to the point where we are 102% D/P/B, then maybe an armor trinket would be a better choice.

most of the damage from omnitron is physical yes, but teh damage that actualy kills people is magic, its more bursty
imo yes as of now avoidance > stamina, but a lot of people are getting this misonception that stamina is a bad stat to have, when quite frankly its not. in fights with high ammounts of magic damage avoidance wont do a thing for you

The damage that kills -people- is more bursty, in that it's Arcane Annihilator that should be interrupted and slimes blowing up on people that should be kiting. These aren't things you could cooldown, and they shouldn't be killing a tank anyway. They might kill someone else, but the tank isn't going to bite it if he gets hit with one of these things.
Bad is a relative term. Stamina should go on your chest enchant and on half a gem worth for blue sockets and.... that's about it.

well if electron and magamatron are up at the same time and healers are going balls to the wall keeping everybody up its nice to be able to take less damage from it that mitigation dosnt help with. and i know its good to have stamina against nefarion. ill agree with you though at best stamina is a situational stat as aposed to mitigation which is all around better. in any case i think imma keep the worm since it gives stam AND mastery, and swap out porcelain crab for melee fights, mirror for magic fights. the VP trinket seems to have a general concensus of being bad so imma pass on that i guess
