A few times doing dungeons and the tank has either died or left mid fight (this shouldnt be allowed to happen btw) I have been asked to switch to bear and tank. I havent a clue how to tank as a druid so I just hit some buttons and hope for the best. This usually results in me getting a bit of aggro but not all.
Will the gear I have as a kitty enable me to tank ok? Also, what's an easy rotation for me? Please dont refer me to stickies. Im not a tank so dont want to trawl through loads of stuff, I just want a "just in case" answer please.
...well, even if you aren't taking full threat, that can actually be a good thing ^^ when we attempt to 4-man groups because of the tank leaving us, I actually prefer it when the tank is only taking on 66 to 80 % of the mobs :P it makes him easier to heal, and as a druid, it isn't that bad keeping up more than 1 person at a time.
Besides, no one would(should?), expect you to be on par with "real" tanks ._. That's just silly xP

I'll be the unpleasant one here. Yes, you're a feral cat. No, you don't (hopefully) have tanking talents. Yes, you can tank in a pinch. Oh, what's that, you don't know the basics of tanking? Read the stickies. If you don't want to put forth the effort to learn the BASICS of your class (not spec, which is also feral, but CLASS), then you shouldn't have the interest to even do 5 mans. It's not like you're being asked to know how to critique a resto druid's healing style, or show a balance druid how they could improve their rotation; you're being asked to know the basics of the other form from the same talent tree.
Hell, you may even find that after reading the stickies and having to tank once or twice in a pinch that you like the thrill of juggling aggro and keeping everything beating on you. But, if you don't do a little research on your own, you'll never know.

Even while specced Kitty, I usually keep some bear abilities on my bear bars if I need to switch in case of emergency:
Bash, Growl, Mangle, Lacerate, Maul (rage dump), Skull Bash, Swipe, Thrash, Challenging Roar (last three are AoE threat).
Keep Barkskin handy too.

If you're leveling as feral, and doing it in your only face, without a friends' backup, I strongly recommend you to take Thick Hide. No matter if you prefer a Cat or Bear... It'll just make your life THAT much easier.
A "group" quest? Tank failing in dungeon? Healer DC? You may as well shift and save a day, rather than stick your head into mud and die.
And, speaking of shifts:
#showtooltip
/cancelform
/stopmacro
/cast !Flight Form; !Bear Form; Prowl; Tiger's Fury; !Cat Form
Just place it to a button bound to one of your mouse spare buttons.
