Soul link dmg counts as dps?

There is a discussion on the official forum (
link
) that claims that the dmg we "do" to our pets is added to our dps count.
If this is true, then:
1. The dmg shown for locks is higher than the dmg we actually did. (more qq for nerfs, less value for the raid)
2. We can increase our "dps" by standing in the fire ;)
As a pvp player i dont care much for my dps as long as i dont suck big time, but would like to know if this is actually true.

If this were true, then there must be some mention of it in the recount details, would it not?
Didn't check your link, just something that popped into my head

there is no such thing as "our DPS count".
-there are a selection of addons and parsing sites that can take that info from our combat log and display it in a variety of ways. some may include friendly fire in our overall output total but nobody is forcing you or anyone to use those services or forcing you to include those values when assessing a players' value.
1. no, our actual damage is well understood.
2. no.

with "our dps count" i mean the addons that are used by a number of people to show of how good they are and how bad others are. i am fully aware that it does not change our actual dps.
since when is qq based on rational facts? if warlocks are on top of recount others will demand buffs.

dunno. since when did foolish QQ from the official forums need reposting here?

because it is no real qq? its just an observation towards the dmg meter mechanics that makes them even less valuable than i thought they were.

The answer is obvious really. It's not the mechanics fault, it's the add-on/website. They need to fix their dps logs so that Soul Link is excluded. Simple really.
Edit: I notice no one in that thread mentioned skada. Does that mean it works right?

The argument of the thread you linked is bunk. The Damage Done value for the individual is based on the targets to which that damage is done. It doesn't merely assume that all damage is valid, it actually checks whether the damage is proper or "friendly fire."
If you view Damage Done for the Nefarian kill, extending Marilina's breakdown of damage, you see that 9,316,125 is attributed to herself (of the total 10m that includes her pets). If you click Marilina herself to see her breakdown of Damage By Spell, you find the total is slightly larger: 9,580,705, even though it should be the same since this breakdown also does not include pets. But note, Soul Link and Magma damage sources are listed here, accounting for 264,580 - the exact difference between total Damage Done breakdown by spell and the Damage Done listed to her in the fight.
Conclusion: Friendly Fire damage is not included in the damage breakdown by player, only in the damage breakdown of spells for individual players. Presumably this is also not included in any of the rankings.

As said, it does list Soul Link damage among other things on those sites, but it does not attribute it to damage done on the main charts.

if i recall correctly, soul link dmg is calculated, in recount at least, under "Friendly fire" category.
