I don't think talent has anything to do with your method of healing (addons or no addons or which add-on) but more on your ability to find the right method for YOU and perform well with that method. Being able to estimate incoming damage but also able to react to unexpected situations is what I would define as "talent".
I would however add that knowing how to set up an impromptu heal setup with some mouseover macros saved back in case of addon failure is a good thing, and your main heals on a bar somewhere (hidden is good) just in case. While rare I have had addons go out in the middle of a raid and needed to switch to using the spells straight from the bar for the rest of combat and then dragging out my macros for the rest of the raid. Some would say that's being "over prepared" but that's just me :)

Personally I think the real talent is triage. Determining who needs to be healed, for how much, in what order, what spell would be best in each situation. The better and the faster you can do all this, the more talented a healer you are.

Yes, it is the norm. There are people who don't use mouseover addons or macros, but they are the exception rather than the rule.

The reason they are the best is that they research, practice and do anything to give them an edge, addons is part of that.
This. I don't really play anymore, when I did I was one of the better holy priests on my server (not trying to brag or anything, my server is pretty weak anyway). And I can safely say I spent twice as much time researching/brainstorming ways to optimize my play (this includes things like macros, addons, little timing tricks, etc etc) as I did actually playing. Which I guess is part of the reason I don't really play anymore -_-

well... the regular raid frames already do that, if configured.

This!
The most talented healers are those that stay calm in tough situations and think clearly when crap hits the fan. Sadly, the only way to get better at this is to be in tough situations. That's where you learn the limits of your characters and classes.
Along with this!

The thing about add-ons is they give you more info and streamline your ui. And pretty much the more of the vital info you have the better you can do the triage thing.

No, they just re-package info that Blizzard already gives you, one way or another. Usually, however this makes the info more accessible - in some cases it may have been info you'd never seen before but it was always able to be found out somehow.

That's what I meant. Add-on's take the info you would normally be able to get and presents it in a format that you find easier to understand. Well... they do after you play with the settings to customise it how you want it.

I would prolly be able to heal with the standard ui blizzard provides.
But it will take time to get used to that again. I prolly would be screaming to get my grid and poweraura's back, just like a little kid in a store wanting candy.
