basicaly what im looking for is a macro that will cast a spell to my focus target, if it exists, then if it does not cast at my mouse over, if it exists and then at my target, if it exists....
#showtooltip Fel Flame
/cast Fel Flame; Fel Flame; Fel Flame;
have yet to test it because servers are down... anyone see anything wrong with that macro or perhaps a better way to write it?

/cast [] fel flame

nice that is alot simpler tyvm... can i ask what and why there is a [] in there?

the other two sets of square brackets give conditions that need to be met for the cast to occur. the empty brackets allow the spell to be cast with no conditionals if the other two don't trigger it.
this used to be done by doing:
/cast fel flame; fel flame
but an empty set of brackets uses less characters.

wow, thanks alot asakawa, this is going to be extremely helpfull for all my future macro writing needs!
since i have your attention let me ask you another thing...
i wrote my own personal "all in one" pet macro where i have
devour magic, felgaurd intercept, voidwalker shield, imp singe magic and sucky fear thing..
however i wanted to make the macro so that it will show the tooltip for whatever pet i have currently..
so i was thinking something like:
#show tooltip devour magic; sacrafice; singe magic
and so on and so forth but then that leaves me very little room to actualy write the /cast portion of the macro lol, basicaly is there any way for me to write the above smaller to save me some space

if you just put "#showtooltip" and no more then it will show the first ability that the macro will use. this works great unless you macro is also triggering off-GCD things like trinkets in which case it will just show your trinkets all the time >.<
this also works nicely for macros in which you use modifiers. the icon and tooltip will update on the fly when you hold shift or whatever without you needing to apply all the same conditions to the tooltip.
beyond that you can save a character here and there by using /use instead of /cast (they both do the same thing even for spells and such).

I actually have two of those pet-macros my self, since most of our demons have two pushable abilities and two autocast abilities. Unfortunately, it's not one, but they work fine for me.
If you use the question mark icon for the macros, they will show the skill that will be cast when you push it.
I think I removed #showtooltip from them because it took too many characters, but on the other hand, they are hidden and do not show on my bars anyhow. ^^
/cast spell lock;seduction;sacrifice;axe toss;singe magic
/cast devour magic;whiplash;flee;consume shadows;felstorm

Since were here talking about macros, I was wondering if you guys could help me create one. I'd like a macro that /focused a target, but If I already had a focus, it would just /clearfocus. I wasn't sure how to do it because Its kind of like /castsequence.

I would suggest going to the UI & Macro's section of the forum with that.

/clearfocus
/focus
change exists with harm if you never focus a friendly target
basicly this will clear your old focus then focus your mouseover if that doesn't exist it will focus your target, if that doesn't exist it will have just cleared your focus

UI&M indeed.
/focus
/clearfocus
would require you to hold a modifier to clear your focus but UI&M might be able to find a conditional to make that unnecessary.
question though, why do you need this?
if i knew why i might be able to help more. i can't think of a good reason to clear your focus other than to clean up your UI once you no longer need it...

I was actually just wondering. All my keybinds are set for 2v2 arenas fear, felflame, etc. And I was just thinking about in bgs how it might occasionally be useful to be able to switch my focus quickly (say if an opposing healer just showed up), or just /clearfocus if I didn't have one.
