Howdy.
I'm hoping that someone out there might know of a good addon that will track players' uses of their abilities. That way, I will also be able to tell whether they are meeting their full potential in the heroics or raids I am leading. Most especially, I want to be able to know if every tank I am healing is using their cooldowns. And, when.
But it also wouldn't hurt to know when a Rogue used Tricks or Hunter used Misdirect, etc. I don't need to know about specific DPS abilities, and such, so much as
I need to know about abilities which affect how the situation flows in a given fight.
If someone is popping a CD to bring mana to the group? I wanna know.
If a tank has used up all his CDs to control incoming damage? I wanna know.
If a Healer has used his cooldowns? Like, say, Pain Suppression? I wanna know.
Any ideas?

I'm thinking of
Death Note
, however it only shows the last events before a death and might not exactly be what you want

At what point in a fight do you have time to analyse everyone else's play style? If you're looking for weaknesses in your group, I think it's the raid leader who is far more occupied with the rest of the groups play style, than the fight at hand.
I think you're objecting more on the basis that you don't like people watching what other people are doing, than anything else. Even though this information is readily available in the combat text already. I just want to be able to pick out things in the combat text which matter the most. (And possibly, have others with a given addon transmit critical information to the rest of the team)
Simply knowing when people are popping certain cooldowns (or not) should not be all that distracting. If I have to focus on some other mechanic of the fight, I obviously don't have time to watch this display. And ultimately, I want to be able to trust my teammates to do their jobs. However, I am simply looking for a tool to allow me to be more aware of the situation, and to be able to improve my team's responses. Not just in the middle of a raiding situation, but when training with one another in Heroic dungeons.
I know some tanks who do not use their cooldowns effectively. Who do not even use them at all. I have also known healers who fail to use all of their capabilities. If I find this is an issue, it is something we can work on to vastly improve the performance of the entire team.
We all know how certain raiding situations can go from being almost easy to being nigh impossible, when just one or two people are not doing everything they can do to deal with a situation.
Did you know that there were fights in ICC where you could heal them with just one person... I 1-healed a zerg against Sindragosa for the
All You Can Eat (10 Man)
achievement, back then. On a Disc Priest, no less. There were even some fights where, theoretically, no one had to take any damage at all, if everyone did exactly the right things, at the right times? Excellence is its own reward.

Thanks! I'll try there, and report back if I find something. Good lead.

So I'm guessing we can compromise by agreeing that it's not the information which is the real issue... but what the person with that information will do with it. Whether they'll be a
MOAR DOTS THAT'S A 50 DKP MINUS!
raid leader or someone hopefully more reasonable. ;-)

There's also
GrimReaper
you might want to try out, but not sure if it works correctly anymore
On a side note: on
WowAce
they said that such an addon would use up too much memory and resources, that it may potentially crash WoW
If u check Death Note's memory usage, it's already a lot ..

Then... why not just ask and/or explain instead of trying to play Big Brother?
"Hey Bob, I saw you died on that last trash pull... did you Vanish?"
"Hey Steve, there's a lot of AoE damage on the next pull. Be sure to pop a cooldown, if necessary."
You get the benefit of one less addon to manage, plus the chance to build a rapport with your raiders.

This one doesn't have to remember... it just tells you what's going on, now.

Again, you're making assumptions about how it is going to be used. But yes, there are times when you have someone in a group who is not doing what they should be. I've had people go AFK for most of a fight -- Putricide, no less! -- and we ended up punting them to the curb. I don't want there to be guess work; I want there to be a clear understanding of what is going right and going wrong, and we can work as a team from there. If you don't like your raid leader knowing what's going on and what's not, what're you really afraid of? Especially, if everyone is intended to be open and honest with one another? The more time you spend in ridiculous discussion about what may or may not have happened is less time actually getting the job done.
I mean, as a Healer, even if I wasn't in charge, I would want to have a much better picture of what's going on in a situation, so I can respond to the situation more appropriately. I can't tell you how many times something like this would have helped me to time my own cooldowns to match with a tank's, in order to keep him alive. There is nothing worse than blowing two cooldowns at once, and seeing one or both go to waste.
I found the perfect addon to do the job:
oRA3
.

I would suggest DeadlyBossMod (DBM) as it will show who has used what and their remaining CD on said ability/ies. As well as some other handy things like what the boss is doing and when to move, built in range checking for appropriate fights. Also it tracks your kill timers for bosses, for that inner competitor in all of us.
Plus its one addon, much less memory usage in the long run.
