At level 15, your abilities are: Maul. Mangle. Thorns.
So, uh. To approach a group of mobs, you can:
Cast Thorns before pull -> Mangle one mob -> Tab target to second mob, white swing at that mob. You will not have rage for Maul yet. Maul as soon as you can. Use Mangle on whichever mob that starts to peel off you.
Or, you can:
Reroll warrior -> Use Defensive Stance -> Bind Thunderclap to every key on your keyboard -> faceroll for epic AoE threat and top DPS.
Or you might as well stop being a masochist, avoid playing a development error, and respec resto.

I just made a new druid on a new (to me) server. As soon as I got bear form I queued for a random as a tank. My biggest issues, which has basically been said already, is I have two attacks and
never
enough rage to use them effectively.
To counter this I simply marked one target with a skull, ran in and threw up demoralizing roar to grab the other mobs focus, then after using mangle on the skull, switch to the next mob, wait for rage/cooldowns and hit maul, next mob rage/cooldowns > mangle. Repeat until they're dead.
Long story short it's going to be a long and annoying road to tank on a druid until you get swipe.
If you want to tank and not hate it reroll a warrior or paladin.

I have done that as well recently, septor. If you got into Ragefire, you are fine. There are mostly groups of 2, some groups of 3. When it constantly becomes groups of 3 with an occasional group of 4 and with the possibility of a DPS ass-pulling another group, you are simply Not. Tanking.

Thanks for the replies peoples. You've also brought me on to my next question: What is the best Heirloom weapon my bear should get? I've got a load of J.Points to blow so it might as well be on a decent wep heirloom
Repurposed Lava Dredger

Low level bear tanking is in a pretty bad state at the moment. Swipe does laughable threat, applying thorns removes bear form, thus destroying your rage, and the lack of thrash does not help. The best bet is to constantly mangle different targets, whenever it is off cooldown.

Whats the most life tanks can have right now? I see an average of 160-180k but i checked out their gear and they're not full stam stacked yet.
Bears don't stack straight stam except for some very specific heroic raid bosses.

Made me laugh and think back to a few weeks ago when i got the bright idéa to level a second druid tank.. he is now a warrior instead. . . ^^

One thing to consider is your nerves and how not to frazzle them. At low levels, the Shaman or the Priest are just as good tanking as you are. The only requirement for tanking until something like level 30 or even 40 is that theres's someone healing the person doing the most threat.
That said, in your position, I do the things I can to keep the mobs on me and every 8 seconds, I can taunt something, make it my primary target and build threat on it. Nobody expects Flames of Azzinoth levels of tanking at your level.

Nobody expects Flames of Azzinoth levels of tanking at your level.
If they've been getting Warriors and Pallies all day, their expectations will probably be quite a bit higher than a Druid is capable of achieving. Everything you say is true, the Druid is perfectly
capable
of filling the tank role at low levels (along with priests, mages, and anyone else with a pulse), but Warriors and Paladins are orders-of-magnitude better than even the Druid's maximum potential.
Basically, although it pains me to say it, when I'm leveling DPS alts, I pray for Warriors or Pallies. When I get a Druid, all I feel is pity, because I know that even if the Druid does everything
perfectly
and is geared to the teeth (for his level), the run will be slower and probably more stressful than if the tank were a Warrior or Pally being controlled by
this guy
.
My advice to the OP: Keep it up. Even though I'd much rather have a Warrior or Paladin tanking than you, I'd very much prefer you over a 30 minute queue. Most people probably feel the same way, and if they're at all knowledgeable about how broken Bears are, they shouldn't be too hard on you. But don't expect things to get better, or to catch up to Warriors/Paladins -- you simply won't, at least not anytime soon.
