Cata did not affect "my" guild very significantly. Double-quotes because I'm only in it because of the perks.

Prior to Cata my guild was fairly active. After Cata hit, people either left because they disliked the content (and therefore deactivated their account), changed realms, and/or they moved on to larger guilds. Some left not even bothering to stick it out and make do with what we have. As it stands I seem to be the only one active in my guild right now (which might be ironic as I'm also the GM). Haven't gotten Level 3 and don't expect to for a long time unless something is done.
As for the guild I'm AGM of, it's fairly active, and is currently at Level 8, soon to be approaching Level 9.

as for my guild, i've seen no difference. same people, new content. but we're pretty damn causal.

My guild has had an influx of new blood since Cataclysm hit, but we also had a number of folks that left before Cata due to boredom with the game or real-life reasons.
Other than that, we haven't really changed much. We've had a slightly increased focus on PvP, and we've had a greater interest in completing old content as a guild for achievements, but those are really the only changes that come to mind.

The Guild I was in was going crazy. My GM only wanted to have the Guild Perks, and before Cataclysm we were about 150 characters strong, now they are level 17, with 500-550 members.
Nitpicking here, but level 17 isn't possible yet.
Our guild is going fine. We had some people leave near end of WotLK (tired of raiding the same tier for 12 months) that came back. Using a loot council system, raiding 25 man, everything is going well enough.
If anything I think things are more progressed overall as far as the server is concerned. Now that 10 and 25 man are considered "the same," we have 10 guilds that are 12/12 or better and another 5 that are 11/12. We are a pretty low-medium pop server. We have a bunch of guilds that are new or reformed that are doing well (from a progression standpoint anyway).

We broke ground on a new guild on a new server before Cataclysm dropped, a few week before actually. A dead low-population server, a complete lack of fresh blood to invigorate us, lengthy summer vacations from WoW due to Arthas-itis, and a desire to drive a guild ourselves led to the change.
Since we incorporated, we picked up a nice hefty chunk of folk (about 50 at first) and went through contraction due to people guild-hopping as the Deathwing dust settled (lost about 4 hardcore raiding lunatics who felt they were being held back) and lost about 4-5 to WoW burnout and cataclysm-letdown (i think they just play Starcraft and Rift and DC Universe and what-all now, who knows).
So we boiled back down and have a good-to-great raiding core. We're nowhere near 100 members yet (about 60) and wer'e 6/13 bosses in Cataclysm (counting easy-Algaloth). We just dinged level 11 as a guild too, so a small guild can still bring the Guild Experience and benefits (even though we know we are 4 levels behind the mega-zerg guilds). We've got the 60/60 feast and are halfway to our 90/90 feast and cauldrons too.
The nice little bump in membership is that the ragtag vestiges of our old Arthas-time guild have transferred over, and we picked up 3 old-new faces of people that we know and love to raid with again.
All things being equal, this new guild is far, far better than the old casual-raider guilds I have been in in my WoW time.
