As prot you get
Warbringer
which allows you to use charge in combat and in any stance.

it is a bit diappointing that everyone who is everyone will type a 6 page syllabus on how to spec and what your priorities should be @ level 85, but no one can help myself or even a new player who might be reading these forums.
now Flame away because I in some way offended your delicate Endgame minds =)
I'm not sure where this is coming from? Leveling questions are asked and answered all the time here. It's just that the majority of players and thus the majority of questions come from the level cap.
And just because you put a =) doesn't mean it wasn't insulting.
Yes, until you warbringer the best say to deal with charging is using a stance dancing macro. I haven't used one in a long time, obviously, but it's something like:
#showtooltip Charge
/castsequence Battle Stance, Charge, Defensive Stance
That's not the best one, but it would work and all I can come up with off the top of my head without looking it up. (I have a meeting in 5 minutes so trying to reply real fast).
You can not stay in battle stance. Defensive stance has a threat modifier on it of 300% which means you have to be in defensive stance if you want to tank. (There are other bonuses like the damage reduction and use of revenge.)
Thunderclap is a great ability at low levels and should be able to hold threat against DPS. You will find while leveling that you do a LOT more damage than actual DPS does so it shouldn't be a problem. Don't be surprised if you are #1 overall on damage every dungeon run.
You get shield slam by default, which is awesome. Between Shield Slam, Revenge, and Thunderclap you should have enough buttons to push. On multiple mobs you can use a cleave and single target you use heroic strike, but only if you have a lot of rage. It costs 30 rage and only does about the same amount of damage as your other cheaper on-GCD abilities, so always prioritize a GCD ability over HS/Cleave.

Not to say anything bad about you or any other new tanks, but a lot of us player who have been around a while had to figure it all out ourselves. Back before warbringer even existed, I had to teach myself how to stance-dance. That's why you only get abilities 1 or 2 at a time. It's end-game where you don't have much room for trial and error like that, which is why people turn to theorycrafting. And that's why you'll see a lot less leveling guides.

No, I don't want a fury warrior tanking for me (unless of course I know the person and his capabilities). The real question is do I want someone who's leveled 10 tanks to tank my regular Deadmines or someone who is learning how to tank. I'd rather have the latter. I don't want to be run through or boosted through instances, even by someone my own level. I would much rather something come out of the dungeon besides just x amount of XP and 4-odd pieces of gear, I love helping people learn their classes.
I'll sum up what I said in another thread: I think heirlooms ruined leveling. Sure, I've got no problem with them being used for questing, but when it comes to pvp and dungeons, there's already a gap between new players and veterans, and it just got bigger. Now the poor tank gets ridiculed just because he isn't in heirlooms, or the healer because he has to drink every couple pulls.
So yes, this latest generation of WoW players has really changed the game. My point in my previous post was that most of the people writing the guides are from an older "generation" of WoW players where these problems didn't exist.

But if you were insulted by this, I urge you to take a step back and look at how you handle a situation with a new tank in a low level situation. Are you the guy that offers help and encouragement, or are you the one L33t D33Ps shouting "GO GO GO TANK HURRY GO GO GO!" ? I am pretty sure from your post you are more than likely the one offering help, but at least now you know where my sarcasm is coming from. =)
one of the best things you can do is to state "new tank here, please be patient" when you start a run. that simple statement goes a long ways to changing people's attitude.
and yes, tanks who level and learn as they tank are usually better at end game, but if you'd been reading forums for any amount of time here, you'd see leveling tank questions asked and answered often. it just so happens that there are more level 85 threads; that doesn't mean that's all people care about.

I disagree. Keep your mouth shut while learning and, when instancing, make friends or look for "good" players and whisper them.
If you go into a group announcing you're new to tanking, etc. you risk a player dropping because they think it's a waste of their time. But if you make friends with your, say, healers or support players...you may be getting yourself into a clique which will be glad to have you in their dungeon time and time again.
It's all about networking, which is what you're doing here--seeking others, talking with them, and learning at the same time. Ask questions, get answers--that's how it goes.

That's a good thing, because usually those are the same people who will berate the tank for being "a noob" once they see him in action.

Not necessarily--those players can be great players, they just may have a case of "stuck-up-sitis," but you can still learn from them and, if reasonable in the smallest degree, will come around and see that you're earnestly trying to reach the next level of game play.
In a way you're using them, but in another way you're helping them realize that not every "newbie" is a bad player--just need guidance and a little subconscious empathy.

That all may be true, but if the person is going to leave when the tank says they're new, they're most definitely going to do it when the tank proves it, and usually with a lot more name-calling.

most people won't drop groups with tanks because of the queue time. and if they do drop, then good riddance, they are just going to be a pita anyway. replacements are easy.
i've run with many tanks, especially leveling, who've stated similar things and every time it's been a smoother run because of it. dps is more careful, and people tend to give pointers, etc. very few people will offer advice to a tank if he doesn't ask for it, and they are FAR more likely to criticize if you just "keep your mouth shut".

Also, don't be afraid to tell that balance druid who keeps using typhoon or the elemental shaman who loves his thunderstorm to cut it out. Do it politely, once. If they keep it up get stern with them. This has been my biggest grief while leveling a prot warrior.
Oh crap. My warrior just hit 50. I completely forgot about Death Knights at 58.
Death Grip ftl.
