Yea cause prot is an outdated talent tree with completely no viability anymore.
People who play it are just defying the inevitable.
Seems you could've learned something from 5 million threads like this one.

ret. go read stickies. its why we have them and not 5 million of these threads.
/thread
OBJECTION!
You could brave it and be Holy DPS at lvl 30, but you WILL be laughed at.
but wouldnt it be better to have him learn a spec that will actually be viable for endgame content?
shockadin is novel, and really interesting, but ret would be better in the long run, imho.
Holy DPS does more dps than retri while levelling due to the high base damage of exorcism.

And high mana cost which makes you go oom after a few casts.

Go retribution, as soon as you can learn dual talent specialisation go protection. After all it doesn't really matter: lower level dungeons can be healed or tanked as retri.

Which is completely false since we've a talent called 'denounce'.
I've levelled my paladin with holy dps starting from lvl 31, never been oom ever. It's really hard to go oom.

Flonnette
Its been so long since I leveled Flonnette that I can't say for sure Holy is a waste for leveling but in general there are almost no class-specs that can't level. The game is built in a way where at low levels where as long as you are pushing buttons, you will do enough DPS to level. Its only later when skills start to stratify which adds strength and weaknesses which separates out Prot, Ret, and Holy abilities.
At the start it doesn't matter what you pick. You should plan any character around what your a longer term goal and plans. If you need a tank or want to experience how tanking works, start with Prot. If you need a tank or want to experience how healing works, start with Holy. If you need or want to experience how str melee dps plays, then go Ret.

Denounce does help, but the problem is you have to take that time to cast an exorcism which also is a spell.
Whereas when I play ret, all I have to do is get in range, use a CS and I can one shot pretty much anything. Especially noticeable if you have the Bloodied Arcanite Reaper. You can put out some monster damage at low levels with that.
