Alright, so as the thread title clearly says, I am still kind of new at pvp. I have only done arena in Wrath, and as I understand it, has nothing (or close to) to do with this Cata season. I play a warlock, and I have never been over 1800, for lack of optimum composition (in Wrath).
Now I have been gathering conquests "for teh lulz" with no regards to rating for the past few weeks for pieces of gear so I can have fun killing people in Horde cities with moderate rate of survivability; but until recently, daft as I was, I noticed that your cap goes higher with a higher rating. Makes sense.
Now, I decided to get a little more serious with PvP, and I want to reach the 2200 line.
I like Destro lock. And I like demo Lock (in 3s slightly less than in 5s).
My heals is a resto druid.
Fights are pretty easy at 1400 right now, and I am having no problem with most class combos.
First question; are comps what gets you higher still? (Aff lock/Resto druid for example).
I am more comfortable (by a large margin) playing destro for 2s.
Second Question: Destro lock vs. any melees getting me in lockdown. How do I get out for sure sure?
You will say teleport, stun + pillar hump to prevent charge/DG, but that's optimal situation. I'm talking, you got a felhunter as the pet that's out (no bubble and stealth detection, no CC while you're taking a breather), your teleport is too far/not in the spot you want it to (since heals went out too far to escape focusing and you had to keep in range of heals). Is this where your partner has to step in to assist?
I basically just needs some help here.

Comp is one of the most important factors in 2v2. But the comp only gets you high if you know how to play it.

Yeah I realize this, which is why I still deem myself as new in PvP. It's a factor that i am trying to improve upon constantly, but, I seem to think myself indestructible after a few wins. My human factor is too human. Ho Ho ho.
Anyways, Destro Lock/Resto Druid: viable to which degree would you say? Melee teams will roll us unless we live the burst...but aside from that.
