So I've some what confused about picking out two bits of gear for my Ret Paladin. I've gotten hold of some stuff, which is meant for Prot, but I'm having a hard time deciding if its good for Ret too:

Then I was on our guild raid and I got this new helm for offspec:

Should I use that helm over the Ret one you can buy for JP?

fixt. when using the insert url tool, you have to enter between the brakets (right before the tag) the text your want to be shown that sends you to the link.
the other option is to find the item on wowhead.com and then look up at the address bar for the ID number, and use the item link tool... so since your "Before head is at this link =
http://www.wowhead.com/item=55031
, u take that ID number, and use the tool for ITEM, giving you this =>
Redsteel Helm
to see the "coding" just quote this and you can see how it works

as for an answer, I would venture to say go with the epics, and reforge the avoidance stats into your preferred dps stats. They have more STR which is pretty much a deal maker for me since its primary stat.
For my alts, I only use JP points on items I can't get an epic for until it drops from raiding or the mats are very expensive. Its just a balancing act of "opportunity costs". Since you have now, an epic helm, I wouldn't bother with the JP for your head, instead spend it on another item you could upgrade. Only once you have all you can get from those, then MAYBE buy the JP head...
I do not claim to be a "very good source" on the state of paladin gear, especially Ret.
