... A game where its first person style fighting but seen in third person view. Also, while levels will unlock new gear. A character of the lower levels could, if he had extreme skill, defeat a character of max level. The terrain would be free to change with abilities, although the terrain would revert back after some time to not cause any damage to the game playing. This would require a great deal of the game to not be "Instanced" But I think it would be very neat. If a character would as an example just of the top of my head make a tree. If he could jump from limb to limb get high in the tree. Hell, he could get up there and have the other players try to use there abilities to get there too.. or jump up like the original player, if they don't get killed by then.
Or how about in this game I just made up (I don't know if this is possible or not in a game.) If a player uses a terrain changing abilities, say, again of the top of my head. Makes a pillar of metal? Another player could make it bad to touch by charging it with lightning. Or something.
I don't know if this has been done before but I think it would be pretty fun. Not sure though.
Incase I want to expand on this Im going to reserve a spot for another comment or two.
I Have Ideas on how to make the low level / high level fighting balanced, meaning how a level 1 could essentially beat a maxed level character (Although it would be very sad), I don't have the time to write this now though.
Anyway, Whether or not this is possible or not, and whether or not anybody will play it. Once I get to the WoW levels of programming/coding/design/and artwork I WILL make this game. It has been F*$%^&ING engraved in my head now. And to be honest. It is
EXTREMELY
annoying to go ALL day long everyday not being able to think about anything else.
OK! Here's a simple strategy I came up as an example of a good team with three players. Or one player who's really good and fast with his moves (Although, because of balancing I don't see one player having a range of the different elements and such differing abilities). First player makes a pillar of steel or metal. Or a waterfall. Second player uses electricity or lightning to make the waterfall or pillar deal damage to those who touch it. Third player makes an earthquake (No, not like shamans because this will actually change the landscape) or something to push them into the waterfall/pillar. Then one of the players freezes/stuns them there and they watch as they die. Now, this is very basic as the other team will have strategies of there own (or they could be just there to farm kills in which case they'll die horribly) and have gear and items to help. But still, its an example.

I have no idea how this would work.

Well, how you could just dodge the ability. Although not all abilities, but abilities that take time to travel from point A to B. But still see in third person. This would make players actually think and use a combination of abilities to defeat the opponent.

That was hilarious, but anyway, I worded it wrong. Whats the game play style where you can simply get out of the way of abilities? Instead of like in WoW wheres its percentage based on if it hits you?

Well.. I mean.. You know... It would be a neat IMO because in each situation people would have to think of the situation and decide how to play themselves. I think it would attract a lot of players as it would make them feel part of the game.. either that or nobody will play because its too hard >.>

For first-person third person are you thinking like Soul Caliber?

Hmmm, I have no idea what that is. But my idea is that, you see the game like in World of Warcraft, third person. But the style of gameplay is that of a first person shooter where you can get out of the way of attacks.

Did anyone try the 3rd person mode on MW2, i think he's trying to suggest something like that.
To be honest I only think it would work with a shoot-em-up anyway.
Unless you just have a side scroller, like tekken or mario or street fighter etc...

So you mean like Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines? Third-person, but you can both parry manually and dodge by moving out of the enemy's trajectory.
Yes. This type of style of gameplay.
I realize this would be hard to get used to, as all the top games. Including WoW are percentage based. (Which my idea is too, but I'll have to elaborate on that later.) But the Idea of being able to move out of the way of a spell that moves from point A to B is quite awesome, to me. Not all abilities are able to move out of the way from, such as an ability like
Corruption
. The reason for this, is that this spell is not a bolt of matter or energy going to the target, but the spell itself takes place within the target.
However, for spells such as
Frostbolt
the enemy could get out of the way, I mean really, have you ever seen a frostbolt in the game run around a corner chasing someone who ran away after the spell was cast and launched.
This style of gameplay would require players to actually think, and use the many varieties of their spells to fight according to each player. Guides such as: "Paladin vs Rogue guide. What abilities to use when blah blah blah." As the player would need to learn how to play his own character the best he/she can. And then use that characters abilities to counter-attack the opponent.
Here's an example. Lets say, Toto is being chased by.. Bub. Toto reaches a high wall and a road to the right. In WoW the options of escape would be: A) Speed boost run to the right. B) Disappear C) CC Bub and run away. In my idea however there could be dozens of possible escape routes. Such as A) Create a dent in the ground to trip Bub then place a pool of something sticky where you think he's going to fall... B) Create a tree, light it on fire and run away while Bub is burning and trying to get out. C) Break the frigging wall in half.
Please note that characters would not normally have such a wide range of different elements, types, and different powers of abilities. This is just for example.
