What is the optimal spec for a crab PvP pet?
Again, same question for a Ferocity PvE pet.

Ok, he asked for crab pvp and ferocity pve. You gave him the opposite. Here is what I would suggest.
PvP Crab

PvE Ferocity

I prefer 2/2 Wild Hunt for MM and 2/2 Shark Attack for SV spec w/ the hunter taking 3/3 OWN and skipping Sic'Em.

Wild Hunt really requires some other talents to be most effective.
1) Go for the Throat
2) Sic'Em!
3) Beastial Discipline
MM will already have GftT and Sic'Em! from the MM tree, and they also have plenty of points left to pick up Beastial Discipline from the BM tree as there isn't much outside of Pathing worth spending points on in the SV tree.
SV, on the other hand, starts with none of these talents and has to choose b/t them and other talents such as One With Nature. After the buff to OWN, it's better to max that and spec into Shark Attack rather than Wild Hunt.
The best SV spec atm is basically
this
with
this
for your pet.

Just an idle speculation I thought discussion-worthy:
During the so called "termination" portion of a raid boss encounter, would the Cunning family talent
Feeding Frenzy (Rank 2)
be enough of an increase to justify non-Beast Matery hunters using Kill Command as at least a partial focus dump in the sub-35% portion of a raid encounter, especailly Marksman with the
Termination (Rank 2)
during that portion of the fight given both the increased focus regeneration rate potential combined with a lack of a
Careful Aim (Rank 2)
type effect that clearly would define shot priority, given that Kill Shot has no focus cost.
Perhaps this combination of talent and shot priority would make it worth shifting the secondary Beast mastery tier one points in a standard post-4.0.6 Marksman build to Improved Kill Command rather than in Bestial Discipliine, which further leads to shifting such as using Kill Command as a higher use for focus dumps due to potential positive DPS interactions with other pet talents such as Wolverine Bite or the pet's boosted damage during Rabid et cetera
