There are some seriously dedicated people over on the MMO forums. Pic attached and link to the whole thread detailing the quest line and multiple stages of the staff (just like Shadowmourne) are in the thread link.
How it was found:

Datamining is why Bouboille didn't get a VIP pass at Blizzcon. And he raged so hard. Then he tried to make up for it by kowtowing to Blizzard while continuing to datamine. It didn't work out. Then Blizzard threatened to serve him with an injunction when he posted early Cataclysm data, and then Bouboille turned around and banned a bunch of MMOC posters for discussing the content he posted.
Pretty lol.
Also the Cataclysm Alpha incident was lulzy too.

People just cant wait anymore can they? I think datamining is pretty cheap thing to do anyways, whats the fun in playing a game like a MMO when some people just find everything out for you before you even get a chance to play? Its one reason why I didnt follow alot of things pre-cata launch.

It is not illegal. It is a violation of Blizzard's ELUA.Lol? So it's not illegal, but doing it is against the rules of Blizzard....yeah. Plus, they were under the Non-disclosure act for the Cata Alpha, and Boob still posted stuff; that they could have used to get MMO shut down for good.

intellectual property theft. Reverse-engineering or decompiling copyrighted works is a federal offense.
That's just wrong. There are some people who claim that to be true but they cannot point to a single legal case that supports their position.
Link me the an official ruling by a federal court of appeals anywhere in this country and I'll shut up. One doesn't exist, so I won't worry.
You're still posting?
