Long post, my apologies, summary at the end if wish to skip!I've been playing for years and I've messed around with Druid before on my own, but have recently started a new one to level with my girlfriend who I finally
conned got to get the trial version to give the game a go as something we can do together, she decided on Mage. Usually I'm used to leveling as Feral although this go-round I decided I wanted to be duel spec Balance and Resto for something different as my main is a Prot Warrior and I didn't really have the drive/need to have a second tanking character.
I was mostly wondering when would be a good time to respec from Feral to Balance? I have a bunch of heirloom equipment geared towards Feral from my previous venture and no points to spare on buying a whole new set aimed at a caster spec, so I've equipped all of that since when it's the two of us since it helps me tank things as kitty while it gets her used to the controls, plus I can't deny the ease of Feral leveling.
Would it make more sense just to stay Feral and deal with possibly tanking now and then up until 80 when the heirloom gear looses the +XP bonus? Or 85 when it's time for heroics? Or should I was until I'm able to get Moonkin form and simply respec then? Perhaps after 90 days (or level 60) when the RAF benefits expire? I've also considered because of LFD, I could just list myself as DPS and probably have no problems, although I also fear sometimes of being better geared and getting the infamous "your gear is better, why don't you tank" statement.
I guess the big question is when should I start worrying about gear as well, since most of my gear from heirloom items and leveling would be based around Feral and that it might be difficult, at least in dungeon scenarios, to stock up on caster gear to prepare for a switch in specs.
SUMMARY!- Currently Feral, with Feral gear, including heirloom items.
- Leveling with girlfriend on her RAF account, she is a Mage.
- Goal is, by endgame, to be duel spec Balance and Restoration.
Thanks for any advice everyone may be able to provide, and hopefully this post may help out anyone else with similar situations with similar questions!
