I always played as Disc but in the end of WotLK due to setup I changed to Holy Priest (this happened in the last 6 months of WotLK) so I got used to it and started to love it too...
When I started on Cataclysm I started as Holy because of the revamp Disc had taken (I tried a couple times and did not liked it), now I'm with better geared so I decided to try it out since it has a lot of uses and incredible cooldowns
On Elitist Jerks they recommend two specs:
A/AWithout A/AThe main difference on this specs (besides the A/A obviously) is the Strenght of Soul talent... I understand that a Disc Priest has right now two kinds of "rotation" Penance + Smite (to reduce Penance CD) and Shield + Heal (or equivalent to reduce WS debuff)... Couldn't a priest have both in the same spec without loosing too much?
Right now I'm using the following
specI just loose two points in the Veiled Shadows Talent and 5% increased Heal (and equivalents) and 2% overall healing (comparing the non A/A spec of EJ)
Am I wrong or this spec would give me more choice in regards to what kind of healing to use (since priest have been always known for their huge arsenal of healing spells) without sacrifing too much throughput (at least theoretically because on pratical therms this spec might prove to be capable of more healing, haven't really tested out both)
