either one since gem transmutes no longer have cooldowns it also depends on if you have a herbalist and how much you want/can farm.

Something else i forgot to add it depends on the price of flasks v gems and truegold. 20 minuties should be enough to farm up mats for a couple flasks so compare that with the price of a single truegold or a few uncut rare gems.

My main is raking it in at the mo thanks to making lots of
http://www.wowhead.com/item=58086
.
They all seem to sell on the same day cos they're in high demand.
Takes about 1 hour of farming the herbs to make between 7-10 flasks and they sell for 170-200g each
I used to be a transmute master but now i'm in the flask business i've changed and it's working great for me.
Also note thats a +Intell Flask. Which means Heals and Caster Dps would both use the flask.
I have always gone X-Mute on mine. Gems are always a screaming market to make money on. This
Transmute: Inferno Ruby
is a good gem to market on my server. Mats cost around 50g per if you buy from the ah and sell for around 90g uncut.
The big thing about professions is that if your going for X-Mute Spec then having a JC is aways good to have as it will turn a bigger profit.
Elixer Spec and Potion are both on the low end on the pole. On my server your make more money selling the herbs and buying your flask then making the flask and trying to sell them.
