Shadow does not have a rotation, but it got modes. As for heroics:
Single mobs upto ~400k health: Mind Spike, Mind Blast. This is as close to a rotation as it gets.
Fat mobs or packs: Dots, Mind Blast. Devouring plague is hardly worth the effort.
Shadow doesn't have AoE. Tabbing Vampiric Touch is as good as it gets. Holy Nova is plan B.

Hopefully the buff the mind sear in the ptr will make it to live and help shadow AOE a bit.
But regardless the current mind sear still has some place in AOEing though it's a very small place.
It's not too hard to get the hang of shadow.
Try to practice determining the life span of your targets and decide between more dots or more burst dmg
Keep in mind that mind spike removes your dots.
Try to mind sear players if you chose to use the spell, preferably tanks, you still get all the threat of the move but at least they're near a tank. Unless your fighting many many low low health targets mult dotting is usually a better choice over mind sear, usually tab VT and SW:P on as many people as you can and if you don't mind a DP on one of them if it'll be usefull.
On single target or boss fights, try to move during the CD of DP so that you have a better chance at an apperation.
Cast SW:D only when the target is under 25% health unless you are in a situation when you would be moving for a while and you don't need to refresh anything, since you don't have anything else to cast while moving.
Don't eat the yellow snow.
Try to have atleast one shadow orb before you mind blast to maintain your 10% buff to your periodic dmg.
Use shadow fiend as often as you can.
umm I guess those are all the random shadow tips I can give you.

I cringe when I see people say we not good at AoE. Spriest are good, it just takes more awareness than say a boomkin or mage.
Be sure that you have Evang up to a full 5 stacks
Be aware of AoE is going to be needed, and plan your Mind Blast accordingly. Just because it is off CD doesn't mean use it right away when you know AoE is coming.
3 seconds before needing to AoE, get one Mindflay off to refresh the ticks of Evang,
cast MindBlast to convert the orb into the dot buff
Target the Tank, and cast mind sear on him (as the tank should be with the ombs you are aoeing)
Mind Sear several times only stopping when Orb is near 3 secs from ending so you can target another mob to MindBlast since another orb should have proc'd by now,
Rinse Repeat
Easily 10-14k on aoe.
That being said, I only do it if ther are 5 or more mobs up.
I can do more dmg by SwPain-Devour-Vamp-MB-Flay TAB TARGET Repeat. Its not hard to tab target to cycle through mobs you haven't dot'd yet.
If they have 400k hp I might only do a SwP and Vamp
If they have 300k hp i'm likely to do a MindSPike/Mindblast rotation on it, finishing with SwDeath, saving these single target dps situations for last after all the other mobs have been dot'd.
Sounds hard now that I've typed it out, but i find it quite simple when practiced...
