You can not keep attacking the shielded tron. In the ideal scenario, it will kill you. In the worst, it will kill everyone. When your tron is shielded, just take the hits. The shield only lasts for 10 seconds, which is roughly 4 or 5 melee hits from the robot. You can still dodge/block/parry those hits even without autoattacking.

A small thing I might add: when your (or your MT's) tron pops his shield, that's the ideal time to pop a cd.

On my bear druid I usually pop Barkskin, stop attacking and just growl to ensure I keep aggro. Any non-attacking taunt will suffice.

Also, for the -trons, it is SO much easier to not swap -trons; just have the tanks swap off grabbing one and pulling it over to their side of the room, until each one has two -trons on their side. So much easier for positioning, threat generation, and keeping crap out of the raid. Unless your party is seriously overpowered, you can stop attacking the -tron along with everybody else at 50% and still keep up on the threat meter easily.
After that, it's just a matter of getting people to not stand in the stupid and switch targets appropriately. (especially slimes) Long damn fight. :P

If he still has his default key bindings he can press "T" to stop his auto attacks. The most important bots to stop auto attacking shields are
Electron
(
--> Ouch) and
Arcanotron
(
-->
Converted Power
). There will be 3 casts of
while Arcanotron's sheild is up. The tank should be able to get the first and the third. You can let the 2nd go off, or keep a melee on him not attacking for that one.
Magmatron
's sheild isn't going to break with your tanks auto attacks, tho, he should practice and do the same, because its just wasted damage anyways.
Toxitron
is different tho. With Toxitron up, you want everyone to keep attacking it. The
Soaked In Poison
debuff that you get really does do that much damage, and all your attacks will now hit for 10K more while you have it. So don't stop attacking Toxitron for those 15 seconds.

Great advice above, the halting of ALL damage (including pets) on the shield phases is not recommended, its required. Calling out "50 ENERGY" in vent makes it easy, everyone should know to check who their target is when they hear the tank call it.
One little wrinkle I noticed is in the middle of the fight. All four have been activated, so on one side we have a tank with O-1 and O-3, and the other tank on the far side has O-2 and O-4. Each tank will have one active and one dormant.
So the active O is dwindling and below 5 energy. Advise the tank to distance him/herself a bit from the dormant O that is coming online. When the new O powers up, there is a moment when both are active (so O-1 and O-3 from the above example, while O-2 is shielding on the other side).
Regularly they will BOTH get an immediate swing in, before O-1 goes dormant, and it is tantamount to Chimaeron's double strike at times. Big avoidable spike.
Remember the dormant O maintains his prior threat table, so even if you are across the room, he will trundle over to you before turning to nom nom up your healers, and the DPS is still just switching over, so they will not pull off you easily.

Just to avoid confusion for the other reasons. The max amounts of bots that will be up is 3. Fresh bot, Shielded bot, and bot that is about to power down. Like wintermark said tho. It is good if your tank gets 10 yards distance from the target that is about to power up. This will avoid that one extra hit, and will also make sure that he doesn't get flanked and attacked from behind. Remember, aggro, does not drop, so picking up the freshly powered up bot won't be a problem, he will come right to you. The only challenge is the first rotation, because new bots will go right for a healer =P

It's true! I have had to turn my back once or twice to gather up some healer-munching new Omni joining the party. (Damn the lightning debuff)
