Hello all, I have been lvl 85 for a little bit and have tried to tank a heroic or two but I just seem to get smacked around pretty well. I have tried to gear up for a little bit of everything and not be one of those stamina hogs that have 200k life but cant really take a hit and always have their healer cryin for mana.
Here is my armory link:

I am also tryin to get Zin'rokh, Destroyer of Worlds, but the dang thing just isn't showin up for me. I want to tank my way to better gear, sitting in the que for 20 - 30+ minutes waitin for a group is rediculous. Any suggestions is REALLY appreciated! Tryin to figure out the best way to go stat wise is drivin me nuts! I know we need mastery, mastery, and......more MASTERY!
Thanks!

It looks like you have never heard of reforging and that you have not read the tanking sticky.

Although not perfect, there is nothing about your spec or gear that should keep you from tanking heroics (and relatively easy in most cases). If you are having problems then I suggest you review the sticky and work on your rotation. A DK tank relies on certain abilities and cool downs to manage the damage they take.
While I agree 100% about his need to read about the actual tanking process, his gear is awful and full of missing enchants. He has one piece Reforged, meaning he is missing out on HUGE chunks of avoidance and/or Mastery. His gems are also completely awful.
His spec could be improved with 2 or 3 points into Epidemic (which is a threat and survivability talent) rather than free interrupts.

Alright, I have redone my talents and got the head enchant, I am going to work on getting the other enchants when I can spend more time in game to try and hunt down guildmates to help me out with them.
I tanked an instance last night to see how it went and I held hate pretty well, I Snagged the DDR addon which helped a ton. After I get my enchants should I change my gems to fill in the gaps in my stats? I am sorry if I sound stupid I am just tryin to understand more about DK's I love playin this guy. I will re-read the sticky tomorrow when I am not so tired from work. Please toss me more opinions.

Those HUGE chunks you are talking about are at most 2%.
With his ilvl of gear he should be able to tank all heroics just fine completely unenchanted and ungemmed. Sure, it would be easier with enchants/gems but they are far from necessary for any 5man content right now.
At the OP:
Mastery is only useful for our Death Strike. So make sure you use it as often as possible. If you feel squishy it might be because you Heart Strike too much. Those death runes we get from DS are usually best used on more DS and not on HS (a mistake many new tanks make, they think "of great a death rune, I can use my awesome blood attack more!" - this is wrong, you want to DS as much as possible!).

At 177 rating per percent for avoidance and whatever it is for Mastery, he's looking at a fair amount more than 2% gains. Don't understate the missing stats.
That said, looks like he's made some solid changes to his gear and improved his setup. He needs to un-equip the level 35 cloak before his next 5 man or raid and change the trinket to something more useful, but he's looking better now for sure.
He's still reforging very poorly, though. I don't believe he's read the tanking sticky to determine what stats are useful.

Also something the sticky I don't think mentions is how to properly manage your runes for more survivability. One thing that helps a TON is the proper management of your Blood Runes during a boss fight.
To be more specific, in order to take the least amount of damage possible, Blade Barrier should be up at all times. This is obviously caused by having both blood runes on cooldown. Now, the tricky part of managing this is it seems easy to always keep them on cooldown if you just use them when they come up, but that is not the best way to fully get the most out of your Death Strikes.
What will get you the most mitigation and survivability is using your 2 blood runes to get the Blade Barrier up and running, then going about Death Striking as usual. Once you are doing well, only use Heart Strike or Blood Boil (whichever you prefer, I use Blood Boil because it 100% will burn a blood rune if it hits or misses) with about 1-2 seconds left before the previous blood rune refreshes. This will keep Blade Barrier up 100% of the time and ensure ALL Runic Empowerment procs are used for more Death Strikes. This will help survivability a ton. Once you get good at this, you won't be getting useless Blood Runes from RE and you'll be able to get 1-3 more Death Strikes per minute depending on if the RNG gods of RE smile upon you.
