I was going to reply to facesmasher, but there's no point. I debate theists so that other theists who might be on the fence will be persuaded to abandon their delusions, but facesmasher's so far off the beaten path, the only one I could try to convince is him, and that's clearly not going to happen.
Let's all worship the sun...
George Carlin comes to mind...
I actually have a theory I won't really go into here about how jesus = the sun.You talking about that theory they presented on
Zeitgeist
? If so, that movie was so full of bullsh&t that I wouldn't buy it.

It's actually something I had read and then researched before Zeitgeist. It is unfortunate that the rest of that film was so filled with misinformation that the first part gets lumped in with it. It is by no means a theory they created. It's been around for a very long time.
They actually do a pretty good job of presenting in there though. Like I said, it's really too bad they ruined it later on and then lost all their credibility. That's why I don't like arguing the 'jesus = sun' thing anymore because now everyone has seen that and brings up their credibility as an argument against it. Everyone just assumes the whole film was one big crock of #$%^.
I'll see if I can dig up the research I did on it for school. It's pretty interesting.

Well, so long as you don't refer to
Zeitgeist
, I'll be happy to listen... :P
When I first saw that movie, I was like "Oh, interesting..." until it got up to the part with the 9/11 conspiracy theories. Then I went back and started doing research on the first part, and it all fell apart. I hate when people bring up Mithra or Horus and say that it's exactly like the Jesus story "Born on December 25 of a virgin" and all that.

LET IT BURN IN HELL.
Is that implying a belief in a place called "Hell"? Discuss.

I don't believe in Hell because I don't believe that Christianity is anymore right in its concept of after-life than Greek mythology. However, Greek mythology is infinitely more epic. I would, however, be okay with a Hell like from Dante's Inferno, seeing as I'd probably be going there.
Greek mythology is boooooring. It's heaven and hell, with a booooring (yet cool depressing concept) of limbo thrown in. And some rivers and pups which I have to admit are pretty badass.
I think Norse really got it spot on. Ragnarok and all.

Hell doesn't exist.
What about Heck? Discuss.

That's where the naughty five year olds who die early go, of course.

What point in time of Egyptian mythology? The one where only Pharaoh's could become one with the God's, and everyone else just got sent to opposite-of-life-land? 'cuz my socialism does not approve.

Half-giantess half-corpse woman? I'm wondering why did that make me remember the pyramid-head dude from silent hill...
