I think it's safe to say that there's probably more of a stigma on being atheist in heavily religious communities than there is on being religious in predominately atheist communities. Not that atheists don't find occasions to make condescending hypocritical fun of the religious, but I think the stigma is less frequent and less severe where it does occur.
*cough cough*

I just changed my religion on Facebook to "My Little Pony."
I may have to change my vote to "Other" here.

This is one of those predominately atheist places I mentioned, which yes, does have some anti-religion insults flying around from time to time. No one is getting kicked out of their family home here cough cough the bible belt. I don't agree with what happens here or in the bible bet, but I'd rather admit to being religious here than being atheist in Kansas.

I'm still surprised this hasn't gone into a "This is greater than this and anyone who objects will burn"
Other is
oviously
the best religion on the list. Just read its most sacred books and listen to its prophets and you'll see! :)

Can I ask a question? It has been bugging me since I was... like... 9 and learning about ancient reliegions.
Why is it that religious people will believe something in one book, but not something in another?
How is believing the story of the garden of eden any different then believing the creation myth of egyption beliefs?
Furthermore, how is believing any of them any different then believing that witches and warlocks walk among us and, during the school year, send their youngsters to an undetectable secret school called Hogwarts?
They're all stories that were written by people... who is to decide what ones are true or not?

Because it's based on an individual's faith.

They see evidence to support one belief, but they don't see evidence to support the others.
