I'd be curious to see if we could come up with a self-regulated set of rules about 'what should be stickied and what shouldn't'.
Anyone interested?

I'm too lazy to get the ball rolling but not too lazy to criticize the guy who isn't. Fire away!

You should give me the guidelines you come up with and I'll make a poll =D

I was also thinking something along the lines of a quick poll where people could vote if it should be sticked or not. We let the poll run for a week, and then see the results.

Regulate by voting? Nah, recipe for disaster. Having a set of general standards is probably the best place to start.
For example:
1) Must have a reasonable standard of spelling and grammar. (Not aimed at you, Hat!)
2) Must be laid out in sections for easier referencing.
3) Must contribute at least 1 (2? 3?) pieces/sections of information that have not been covered by existing stickies (in the case of a new sticky), or must cover at least 80% of the information as an existing sticky (in the case where we replace an older one).
4) All information must be factually correct at time of sticky'ing.
5) If there are multiple viewpoints on a matter (e.g. ShoR tanking vs WoG tanking), then both should be included, with any conclusion on which is better being represented as the author's
opinion
.
Something along those lines?

You need provisions for updated content. Probably a hard cap on the amount of time after changes that a guide is updated before it is temporarily unstickied.

I use "Pelf-check", its kinda like spell-check, except more opinionated.
Also, can I start a new topic called "Standards for Stickies"? And then say something witty like. "Yo Dawg, I heard you like stickies, so we sticked rules about stickies so your future stickies will be sticked!" ?
Cheers,
Hat

You just want a gold medal ;)
And yes, Pelf-check is pretty good, I have to admit, especially when I don't have time to Squish-check your work.
pezz, provisions for updated content is good. svirve generally adds a point to say that X or Y is outdated with the latest patch, but if it hasn't been updated within, say, 4 weeks of a new major content patch being released, or if at least one section needs major reworking as a result of changes (either theorycrafting or abilities changing) then that seems reasonable to call it obsolete.

I don't use pelf check. It's too uninterested in my work to bother.

So the bigger question is how does Pelfcheck there work?
Does it require going to the driud forum and poking the bear or kitty and taking the chance at losing your arm or leg?

Greetings Brothers and Sisters of the Light!
I come to you in deep honour and respect as well in a time of need for your wisdom. Perhaps your devotion could help me as a guidance in this question.
As you are aware of, during the shattering of our world, several places was hit with disaster. One of this evil doings hit Ironforge and by the light was saved mostly due the sacriface of Magni Bronzebeard. I am sad to report the Master Crafter of Chain mails and Plate Fashion was hit by an errant spell. He died instantly and left some of his knowledge in the sea of time.
My tailored plate and mail clothes appear to run in a short supply, anyone heard of another master crafter out there or am I doomed to wander as a "cross dresser" until the end of my Life?

I'm thinking a lot about writing a guide. I'm just thinking that maybe it's not good enough...

What sort of guide?

Holy PvP guide. I'm just not sure if I'm capable. =/

If we wait until someone competent to write one writes one, we'll never have one. No one plays true holy pvp on this forum that I know of, and I don't consider a Shockadin qualified to write one on that experience alone.

I guess I'll try sometime this weekend.

Yall ever had those days when you think that the dungeon finder is putting you threw hell? I just had it happen to me and this is the first time during Wrath.
Ok so I was tanking
Hellfire Ramparts
on my Baby Pally>
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/muradin/yeild/advanced
and have the following experiance. (sp)
First Que took 7 minutes for it to pop. As soon as the group zones in. I look at group and we have. A driud healer, Pally Tank (me), Unholy Dk, Fire Mage, and Enhanced Shamen.
I buff Might and click on my seal. Just as I see the Worgen Unholy Dk charge and pull the first mobs on the bridge. I get control over the mobs and we get them killed. I then post in the Party chat that I'm the tank let me pull. Driud says ok. I go to pull next group on the other side of bridge. And here comes a Fireball from the Mage on 1 mob and a Death Coil from the Dk on the other. And then the Enhanced Shamen Charges other mobs and brings them back.
So between the mobs disarming me every few seconds and the healer dropping group. We get the mobs killed. I then tell the group the classic line of if you Pull it you tank it. Next thing I know here comes a pack of mobs that the dk and mage have pulled. So I just stand there and watch them fight the mobs.
The shamen starts yelling for me to taunt the mobs. And I made the classic reply are you going to let me tank and pull? Just as the group gets a new Dps as the Enhanced Shamen is now the healer. The new dps runs to me and stands beside me. As the Dk and Mage pull the caster group and another pack of wolves. The dps and me stand there and watch. Dps drops group. Next thing I know I see the Shamen say wait and next thing I know I have relief as I get kicked from the group.
I return to the Inn reque and after 4 minutes get another group. Everything goes good minus the new Dk spaming Dark Command and another dps attacking targets that I haven't even pulled yet. But I get over it by marking what targets I'm going to attack and we then finish the dungeon.
So have any of you had this happened to you here lately. I seriously thinking about going and picking flowers and questing my way to 80 and saying screw dungeons. And people really wonder why I haven't tanked on my Main and way there is a shortage of tanks queing for dungeons.

This is precisely why I'm questing on my L74 Prot Warrior at the moment.
If you've got a lot of downtime between when you can play (e.g. studying while you grind), archaeology is a good levelling tool as well. Safety of Azeroth (i.e. L1-60) zones, and fairly swift levelling. Each dig site is worth about 1.5x daily quests in XP.

I guess I'll try sometime this weekend.
Give it a go, I'd be interested in a read at least even if only for some ideas for my holy pali in BG's.
I would think that as long as you are not too precious about it being criticised, and happy for it to be a starting point then it will get bent and hammered into shape via people's input.
Without someone having the balls to stick their neck out with something in the first place it aint never gonna happen.
