People who like snowy weather still feel comfortable in a conversation about climate which is kicked off by a comment about the unusually pleasant weather that has recently been happening. Just because we started talking about boobs doesn't mean we can't move on.
The main point was that it's not politically correct to talk about such things. It's objectifying, which is rude.
Is White/Black worth buying?

I mean it's a pokemon game. We've all played it once already (I believe that the change in the fourth generation that made moves rather than types special or physical was significant enough to make it a very different game from the first through third generations), but some of us are willing to drop forty bucks for a chance to play it again.
I would double check that Oz is supported re: wifi before I bought it though. One of the main things I'm looking forward to rated battles over wifi once
the earthquake in Japan stops making everything awful
. If Nintendo was just like 'woops your region isn't supported' I don't know if I'd buy it.
Edit: Dang someone already took pezz for a username on the wifi business. Now I have to think of something else.

Well, I've got HeartGold at home, that I've moreorless finished. I keep hearing that White/Black is significantly different (ignoring the new pokemon) in terms of gameplay and the graphics/world.

Yes, it's an extremely refined version of Pokemon. There are seasonal cycles, engaging ways to make money, a lot of daily events. Things like swarming or other events have become dynamic. Overall a way better game for atmosphere and a sense of world/exploration. Oddly enough the new pokemon were what I disliked more than anything.

I don't actually find it that odd at all. I've got a great fondness for the first 150, and have grown steadily more and more disappointed with the new ones in each generation.
Btw, I think you're the first mod / admin to post here. Welcome to the Cathedral of Light!
(No, I didn't edit the name of the thread when I double checked what

says... >_>)

I thought that way until about a week ago, when I unlocked the National Dex. Then I started seeing all of these original 150 again in the new game and I realized that, had the Unova pokemon come out in '97 or whatever, and the Kanto pokemon come out with B/W, like 90% of the people who profess a fondness for the original 150 would be saying the same thing, about the alternate reality original 150. I think it had a lot more to do with the newness, both in terms of the genre and our experience with it, than the fact that those pokemon were actually super awesome.

No, you've got to move them from a Fire Red/Leaf Green cartridge to a DPP cartridge, and finally from there onto a BW cartridge. Unless they instituted some fancy way of getting them in HG/SS, or unless they can be found in the dream world, which isn't accessible in the states yet.

boobs
If it's sexist, it only because girls have them and are therefore better.
Pokemon
I only played up through the third generation.

I guess I can tell you about my paladin history too.
My first toon was a female human paladin. I picked paladin for two reasons, 1) I wanted to be human, and my main choice, hunter, couldn't be human, and 2) cheap riding.
I leveled as prot for the simple reason that prot had a fricken +15% str talent right there at the bottom, and the ret and holy talents looked sucky. Once I hit like 40 (?) and got judgment of light, I found that I could aoe grind on like 10 equal level mobs. That was fun. I hit 60, and then bought BC (this was after BC had come out, I just hadn't bought it yet), and decided to mess around with a draenei shaman for a couple levels. I ended up getting addicted and leveling my shaman to 70, forgetting about my pally. I finally went back to my pally, respec'd to holy (I don't really remember why), and headed to outlands. The second I stepped into HH, a 62 rogue challenged me to a duel. I accepted, and about 20 minutes later, he was dead :P From that point on, I decided just to leave my pally in HH and just duel people and capture towers. I finally leveler her to 70 right before wotlk (by then I also had a 70 warrior). Unfortunately, I leveled my shaman, warrior, and a brand new druid to 80 before leveling my paladin, so I didn't get there on her till mid-expansion. I really only pvped on her, unless my guild needed a holy pally for a raid. The cata came, and I never got around to getting her to 85 (I did get my shaman, warrior, druid, and mage there though :P). And then I quit wow, so I guess she's stuck at 80.

Not for me. It's about the quality of the art, to be honest. They put a lot of soul into the first 150, and the effort and originality seems to be decreasing with every new generation. Most of the original 150 looked and felt like they could actually be real pets. Their design was realistic. The more recent ones just seem abstract.
Snivy, for example, just doesn't seem anatomically possible - the nose is unreasonably pointed, the eyes are beyond anime-style big, and the portion of his tail near the fan-tip is too thin to be realistic. They're cute, sure, but you can't picture these walking alongside you in real life. For me, that kills a lot of the appeal of the Pokemon fantasy world.

Yup,
nothing
ridiculous
looking
or
anatomically
improbable
* here.
*Poliwag is here because despite being a fairly run of the mill tadpole, apparently the spyrograph doodle on his stomach is
all of his insides
, while you complain that some pokemon have oddly pointed noses. Also, despite clearly being a reference to Bruce Lee (feels like it could actually be a pet?) Hitmonlee is on this list for not having a mouth yet inexplicably being able to eat.
You really can't start going down the 'anatomically possible' road when it comes to pokemon. No one is going to win that argument.

I just don't like the design of Black/White's pokemon because they turn out worse whenever they evolve.
Like, for example:
Woobat
-->
Swoobat
WHY WHY WHY WHY (and before you argue, Zubat/Golbat was at least a kind of cute evolution). The same thing happens to the starters and Lillipup. I just don't find the evolutions in this game aesthetically pleasing.
I also really dislike the
ice cream pokemon
. And
this thing
.
I dunno, I'm sure it's all nostalgia and you're kind of right, but I would've at least liked a gift Eevee so I could breed it and have an Eevee army instead of trying to find one I liked.

Once the online junk is working I can trade you an Eevee. I sent one over from platinum and I can breed the cliched Eevee army now. >:D
I do agree about the Ice cream pokemon though. That's a little silly.
But seriously, look at
this guy
. I'm sure I'm biased because he's also the best competitive pokemon that I have right now (got an Excadrill but no sandstreamer), but come on, he's such a baller.
