Drug use

Really just interested to see what people put into their body, legal or otherwise.
I have listed whether the drugs are hard or soft, in case you didn't know, so you can answer the last 2 questions accurately.
For clarification, the terms hard and soft refer to whether or not the drug is physically addictive. It clearly has no bearing on the strength of the drug; as you can see, LSD is listed as soft, even though it is one of the most potent drugs known to man. Some drugs, such as MDMA and caffeine, are listed as "semi-hard" because their effects reduce over time in regular users, and they require more to achieve the same high. However, these "semi-hard" drugs are not actually physically addictive, so I have listed them as soft.
This counts for both medical AND recreational purposes
. If a doctor used a particular drug to anaesthetize you, don't count that, because you didn't willingly put it into your body.
EDIT
:
Caffeine, nicotine (quit a month ago), alcohol, pseudoephedrine, paracetamol, ibuprofen, amphetamine, MDMA, cocaine (only because it was free, I'd do more if it wasn't so expensive :/), cannabis (I really
hate
that drug though, makes me feel horrible), LSD (once, it was a piss-weak trip), I use a hard drug habitually (alcohol). Also other - I've gotten high on something rather pungent in a small vial once. It made me giggly and affected my perception of light and sound. The overall effect lasted about 2 minutes. I think it may have been nail polish.
I won't touch opiates because my mother was a heroin addict. Which reminds me I forgot to list methadone. Also won't touch ice. Or cannabis, makes me want to commit suicide when I'm "high" on it. Anything else is pretty much fair game to me though.

I've done quite a lot of drugs in my time.
But i only smoke cannabis and tobacco habitually, the rest i've taken on a night out.

Caffeine and alcohol. Not touching anything else. (save for medical purpose, that is)

I'm not sure that using caffeine habitually should be put in the same category as using LSD, ecstacy and cannabis habitually =\
(thinking about it in terms of impact on control of cognitive function, rather than addictiveness)

Paracetamol
Caffeine
Ibuprofen
Noxious Acid (Even though technically it wasn't me who put it in me)

Certainly. But for the sake of simplicity, I didn't want to delve that far. I was also going to seperate legal and illegal, but that varies from country to country; and while it certainly has some effect on someone's decision to use something, it is secondary to the actual effects of the drug. Again, keeping it simple.

So...what about taking something on list for purely medical purposes?
Post by

Any purpose at all. As long as you willingly and knowingly put it into your body. At no point in my OP did I mention it had to be for recreational purposes only.

Do you count having to take some of those drugs (namely the prescription drugs) due to medical reasons as part of your poll?

Yes, at the end of the day, it's still your choice whether you take them.

You might not believe me, but i have never actually put
any
kind of drug into my body, medically or otherwise. My parents were/are strongly against it during my childhood, and had some "home-made cures" instead of your average aspirin.
Now, as a professional swimmer, i would never ever do any type of drug and i find myself to rarely need painkillers.

Oh damn I forgot aspirin as well.

Just checking.
Alcohol once, caffeine regularly (that's my habitual) and ibuprofen, pseudoephedrine, diphenhydramine, acetaminophen, and aspirin for their intended purposes. Diphenhydramine is most commonly sold in the US as Benadryl and is used as both an antihistamine and sleep aide. Acetaminophen is most commonly sold in the US as Tylenol, but I take it (and aspirin) in the form of Excedrin.

So far I'm the only regular hard drug user. Not that the amount I drink is out of control, I can certainly go without it. But I don't think I've gone over a week without it for around 4 years. It's definitely a habit, if not a full-blown addiction.

You make regular alcohol use sound like a meth addiction. :P
I mean, alcohol is a hard drug, but it's one of the much easier ones to control need for another "hit," I do believe.

Indeed. I'm not even sure i would classify alcohol as a hard drug, as becoming really addicted is quite unusual. Withdrawal symptoms from lack of alcohol is, for example, much rarer than withdrawal caused by lack of nicotine or caffeine.
