Watch out with that...there are "bad" drugs which are not illegal. And if you are about to say "Yeah, but legal drugs are not as damaging as illegal drugs", let me say first that the legal system is actually not taking in account the qualification of every drug (e.g. cannabis is illegal in many countries where alcohol is not), in other words, you can't qualify a drug as hard or bad based on the legal system established on your country. And secondly, that any drug could be damaging: legal or illegal, they must be taken carefully. Everything, and I mean
EVERYTHING
, in excess is damaging to the organism and has to be taken carefully, you can even get intoxicated with water (aka hyper-hidration).

Sweeping statement is sweeping.
If you are in a moving vehicle for any amount of time, you are
14 times more likely to die on that particular day
than if you did not enter any moving vehicle. Based on this, would you say cars and buses are bad?

I know exactly what you mean, imo smoking should be illegal too, 'cause to some people it's even worse that cocain.

Yeah, everyone responds to every drug differently, but it's here where a moral debate pops up: Why are certain drugs considered illegal in certain countries and legal in others at the same time? Why aren't they all illegal in the first place (I mean, not for public sell like alcohol or nicotine) if someone consuming any of them could be severely damaged, because of a bad reaction towards it? And what if someone doesn't care about his own health, why isn't he allowed to consume whatever he wants as long as he doesn't affect others?
This is a moral debate, not a political one. So don't show up with the current laws of your country -_-, please.

BUT IN MY COUNTRY WE
And the main reason I think smoking should be illegal is that it affects everybody around you too. I don't want to die from cancer just because you need your daily fix. Things like heroin don't do that. Then it's only yourself who's going to be harmed (medically speaking of course, your family would surely be hurt too). It's very ironic, and kinda funny, when a smoker dies in a fire.

In the life experience way man. Experience everything. Look at the world with chemicals altering your perception just once in your life dude.. I was gonna go into more with this but I looked at your profile. You're under 20 and you're Mormon. -
Because that totally means that I'm !@#$ing sheltered and don't know jack!@#$, yes?

Perhaps people should be restricted from smoking in public, or around their kids. But I don't think that the government should
ever
have the power to say what you are and are not allowed to voluntarily do to your own body, assuming it's not hurting someone else.
It's very ironic, and kinda funny, when a smoker dies in a fire. That's a horrible thing to say. I don't think anyone should derive amusement from another person's death.
My dad's a smoker, would you laugh if he burned to death?

Doesn't mean you don't know anything. Means you probably aren't going to be willing to try anything. If that's the case, it's probably not worth going to a great deal of trouble to try to convince you to do it anyway.

I don't want him to convince me. I want him to give me his reasoning, which he refuses to do beyond "For the thrill of it."I'm coming in here late, and I'm not sure what the actual discussion you were having was, but if you were asking "Why do cannabis?" then I might have a few anecdotes that help explain it. I know someone (not going to name names, because the drug is still illegal) who has a serious psychological disorder. They were prescribed prescription drugs, but those could barely deal with it. It only pushed it under the surface. Using cannabis, they were able to rein it in and they've never been better.
Of course, that's a special case.
For the average every day person, it makes you feel good. It makes you think about things you never thought about before (you ever wondered why the ancestors of the consumers--animals--gave rise to moving and thinking organisms, rather than the ancestors of the producers--plants?). It can help you hear every microtone of a song, parts you've never heard before, even if you've listened to that same song dozens of times before.
Yes, there are risks, but I think it's a person's choice whether they want to take the risks for the gain, just like riding an airplane or going SCUBA diving.

Nah, it was "Why do random lines of something you don't know at parties?"

Nah, it was "Why do random lines of something you don't know at parties?"Oh...
Well, I would certainly not do that. I've seen Pulp Fiction.

Late reply sorry. Because it's always offered by people I know. It's always something like MDMA.
I wasn't saying you don't know anything. I was implying you lack experience in the area of discussion.
My reasoning is pure and simply for the thrill and the good times to be had. I see no reason to explain myself further on this topic, especially with you.
I generally agree with this to an extent. I have my boundaries, as I've never railed anything or taken any truly "hard" drugs. But honestly, that's just my choice. I can feel good off of things like marijuana and alcohol and not need anymore. I don't think cocaine or heroin is worth the risks - and that's truly a personal choice.
However, if
you've never even tried a mind-altering substance
, you really don't have any experience to say what will and won't work for you, and really have no place in questioning someone else drug choices. Who knows the type of people you'll meet, as I wouldn't know some of my closest friends now had I not been involved in marijuana. You really do develop friends through it, and they really aren't bad people. Are there exceptions? Obviously. But most pot-heads are some the most laid back and fun people to be around, and I honestly think anyone who doesn't even try something a few times is missing out. Life is about fun.Drugs lead to fun times.
If you aren't having fun, you really aren't living.
