I liked Green Lantern; it wasn't as mind numbly awful as it could have been, and even with Reynolds playing Hal, I still enjoyed the movie.

I liked both the old superman films with Chris Reeves and the old batman films. Especially that 15 (R-17?) film with the Penguin.
Just watched "The Wind that Shakes the Barley" (originally wanted to watch "Inherit the Wind", but hey...). Surprised such a pro-terrorist movie was released so soon after 9/11. Any other recommendations for movies about war or terrorism? I'm thinking Jarhead and Syriana.

I don't find Sacha Baren-Cohen funny. I watched Borat due to peer pressure when I was like 13, and found it overrated even then. So I won't be bothering with the Dictator. :P

Well clarified. Was just reading Sean MacBride's wiki page earlier.

Agreed; he's not funny at all.

So, resurrecting this because the other day I saw Snow White and the Huntsman, the first film I'd went to see in the cinema since the Avengers.
First of all I have to say Kristen's accent (she puts on like an Oxfordshire-esque accent) holds up rather well. Her acting wasn't incredible, but she's definitely capable of more than Bella Swan gives her the capacity to explore, and it was my no means bad. Her rousing speech wasn't very rousing, but that was pretty much my main qualm with her. Secondly, the cinematography is absolutely beautiful. So much scenery/CGI porn.
The main weakness is that the scriptwriting sucked quite badly. The dialogue was stilted no matter how it would have been delivered, because it just doesn't flow naturally. There's a lot of shout outs bordering plagiarism with some things, like Snow White's emblem on the shield she carries in the climax which looks suspiciously similar to the tree of Gondor. I liked the fact that despite having two potential love interests for Snow White, the film doesn't lead to any romantic resolution in any way, shape or form. Oh, and Charlize's brother's haircut was so dkalfhdlkfkjdghfsklghlkfhg I can't even begin to describe it.
This is a kind of jumbled up stream of consciousness but there you have it.

I didn't, but my friends saw it. Mirror, Mirror, is, I understand it, meant to be a bit more like a comedy and more camp, for want of a better word. SWATH is somewhat darker. I believe SWATH is better than Mirror, Mirror, from what I've been told, however. I'd say it's similar to LotR, Narnia and the Alice in Wonderland live action film in parts, in terms of the portrayal. It's a decent movie, and the action is cool, but the dialogue just feels so jilted and unnatural.

Saw two movies in the last week: Ghost Rider and the Muppet Movie.
Ghost Rider: I kinda liked it. Nick Cage isn't may favorite actor but the route they took with this Ghost Rider version was a little better than the previous. A little more insane, which I'm not sure I can say I liked, darker, specifically Ghost Rider's look (although I miss the shoulder spikes), and I'm glad they finally put a real villain into it - something I thought the first one lacked miserably. My real problem with Blackheart was that he never took on a real demon form, yeah they had those CGI faces that popped up ever once in a while, but it was kinda lame not to see his actual form. But...
Why the hell can't they just call Mephisto Mephisto, and why the hell did they give Ghost Rider blue flames in the final moments of the movie? The glowing hand was fine, but... to have him be completely engulfed in blue? Really killed the ending for me
As for the Muppet: I LOVED IT! Hilarious cameos all around, the dialouge was funny as hell, the 80s jokes - and jokes about the 80s - were awesome (I don't care what you say), and the cast, of course, was just all-around loveable! Plus, IT HAD DAVE GHROL!
My favorite lines were when Statler and Waldorf break the fourth wall when talking to Tex Richman about buying the property ("Hey, I think you just said an important plot point!") and Tex's "Maniacal laugh!"

Yup, the newest reboot was a great move, and the newest Muppet is pretty alright as well. Here's hoping for more of them.
Also, apparently for this year around Halloween, there is going to be a Muppet's special with Uncle Deadly!

I recently watched Ip Man.
It was one of the most badass action movies I have ever witnessed. But on top of that, I really enjoyed how it showed the conflict between the Chinese and Japanese (in World War 2), even if the person it's based off of had his biography twisted around a bit.

Twisted around a bit? Nobody landed a single punch on him until
The end... where he got shot.
