Oh the Batman series isn't done....not with that 'twist' at the end of Rises....
Nolan has said that he's not making any more Batman movies.

And? Nothing to stop a new director from coming in and taking it over; not like that is a new thing for the Batman movies, and honestly, it's also a 'good' thing if he is gone: Other then Scarecrow, I've hated what Nolan has done with the villains in the movies.

Yea I have no doubt some new director will come in and #$%^ it up in a few years, but as far as Im concerned, Chris Nolan has written the final word on Batman. At least for the time being, maybe if they ever make a Justice League movie Ill change my mind. Or in like 10-20 years when they have vastly better film techonology that actually justifies a remake.
Honestly Adam idk what you dont like about Nolans versions of the villains. I personally love what he does with them, he keeps their personality and traits and such, but just changes their origins and powers to make them more realistic. Thats part of what (to me) makes his movies so great.
I mean would a giant roided up version of Bane, or a constantly reincarnating Ras Al Ghul be more true to the comics? Sure. But they wouldnt fit as well in the gritty realistic tone he sets for his movies, that IMO fits Batman so well.

See...you don't need the Pit version of Ras, but Nolan turned him from a magnificent bastard into a one dimensional joke...and he did the same to Two-Face, the Joker, and the 'big' bads from the newest one. At least Scarecrow was still the mad man he always was, but he's the only one I actually enjoy out of the trilogy.
As for Bane: I love the Venom Bane I'll admit that, but even with his 'drug', he's still a master chess player; I also don't like the need to change his nationality for no real reason.
Edit: And don't get me started on that repulsive shell of Her former self he did to the other villain of Rises....that, more then anything else in all of the movies pisses me off to no end.

Ill admit I may be a bit biased about Ras since I never followed him much in the comics, and Liam Neeson is one of my favorite actors. Ill also give you Two-Face since he got short changed a bit. But I still think they handled his transformation very well, you could tell they took a lot of inspiration from The Long Halloween. And visually I think he was just awesome.
The Joker however I think was not only fantastic, but one of (IMO) the best movie villains ever portrayed, comic book or otherwise. The Dark Knight is now pretty much the standard for me for comic book movies. Thats not only my favorite comic book movie, but its on my top ten list for best movies of all time. I cant imagine any way they could have made the Joker any better. The only changes from the comics were his origins and use of some of his more out there weapons (laughing gas, acid flower, etc) and that just goes in with Nolans whole thing of keeping the villains realistic.
As far as Bane and Taliah I think bane was handled pretty well. He was capable of physically domminating Batman, but still remained a great planner as well, not a mere muscle head. Say what you will about him, it was better than Schumackers version. The whole breaking the bat scene I think was handled very well.
As far as the other one goes, didnt have much of a role, but it tied in the flashbacks pretty well.

Say what you will about him, it was better than Schumackers version. Not saying it wasn't...but I still don't like him; there was no reason at all to change his nationality and to give him the different mask.
But yes, with this, Nolan has effectively created for me, the worst super hero movies ever.
Edit: As for the Joker, if it had been anyone other then Heath Ledger, I may have liked him more, but that actor ruined it for me.

to give him the different mask.
Except that the original mask that he wears is kind of ridiculous?

The Luchador Mask makes sense for him.
Edit: And he only wears it now a days when he's about to go into full on kill everyone mode.

Idk man, to me those seem like small problems. Tbh I couldnt even tell where Bane was supposed to be from, i think they left it purposely obscure. As far as the mask goes, as much as I like it in the comics, it might come off looking too much like a gimp mask on film. I thought the new one looked pretty good, like I said with the other stuff, it fits better with Nolans more realistic gritty tone.

Worse than Batman and Robin? Or
this
?
Nah but Imma stop bugging you about it now, we each have our own opinions after all. Quality is subjective when it comes to entertainment.

I know the same thing happened in the comics/animated series, but only the first time; after that, Bane took better care of his Venom infusion devices.
As for his nationality in the movie well....come on, Middle Eastern + 'Freedom Fighters'; did they really have to go there?

Ive been thinking about it too, I actually am gonna retract what i said earlier about TDKR being better than The Avengers. I wanted TDKR to be better, just because its the end of the Nolan trilogy. But I have to admit, the Avengers was better. IMO the Dark Knight was still the best, then slightly below that is the Avengers, then TDKR.

wasnt sure why all those prisoners would be chasing baby "Bane" untill we saw.
Friend I saw it with is a big Tom Hardy fan, he knew the baby wasn't Bane when he saw the eyes through the mask.
So much for the so-called trilogy.
Nolan could have been honest and still do a one-off Nightwing or Robin film. Besides, if the plot continues from there without Nolan writing or directing, what do you have to complain about?

There's always the chance they'll keep it in Nolan style. And if anything, the thing at the end is a way to do yet another Batman reboot, which will more then likely follow the current comics, where there are several dozen Batmen across the planet.

I hope they dont do Robin ever tbh. I hate Robin, hes everything batman isnt, and has no place in Nolans series. I wouldnt mind Nightwing, but then we would have a lot of fans complaining about how it !@#$ on canon.
I mean wtf, did people wanna see him on a trapeze or something...
I think this was a good end to the series. Im looking forward to the Superman reboot.

Lol, the Nolan movies already #$%^ on canon =p.

Yea but they keep Batmans orgins true. If they made a movie just about Nightwing and they used this Robin Blake guy it would divide the fanbase. On the one hand its better than having him as a friggin circus acrobat, but on the other hand it departs from the origin story.
Besides even if its a good movie, it wont be as good without Batman. The series should end on a high note, go out on a bang so to speak, not an apologetic little squeak that you get when they drag a series on and on to squeez every last penny out of it.

Like Star Wars?
And honestly, it's fairly obvious from the ending of Rises just what role Robin Blake is going to take over...and gotta tell you, it ain't gonna be red tights....

Yea #$%^ that. George Lucas has bought enough crack with my money.

Yea I know , I just dont think their gonna make a movie on it. I got the feeling they were just letting us see where that world was headed from there on out, and let us fill in the blanks ourselves.
